This is a beautiful CA grey market 1984 E24 m635CSi in excellent condition. It is currently in Austin Texas. It was imported new and federalized in California. I have owned this car since 2005. The chassis has about 140K on it. Shortly after acquiring this vehicle, I personally rebuilt the engine with no expense spared. The vehicle has approximately 15,000 miles on the rebuilt engine. The suspension, exhaust, interior, clutch, air condition and cooling systems have all been replaced at about the same time. I have extensive photo documentation of the engine rebuild and a folder of receipts approximately 1 inch thick. This car is driven several times a week and was built to be exceedingly reliable. It is a second car that I drive on the weekends. It lives in the Garage. It is very fast, smooth and pulls hard. The car could easily be driven across the country without any issues. It has never left me stranded even in the intense regional heat. The air-conditioning blows cold even in 100° Texas weather. Below is a somewhat partial list of restored or replaced items. “New” refers to the rebuild in 2006 to now. Engine: The original M88/3 engine was balanced and blueprinted prior to assembly. The engine was rebuilt with custom manufactured JE forged pistons (900$), new timing chain, timing guides, timing rails, oil pump chain as well as new oil and water pumps. New head bolts and Rod bolts were used. A Dinan crankshaft bolt lock is in place. This was removed from a blown Dinan M88 turbo motor. The head was rebuilt with planing, new valve guides with a 3 angle valve job. Ignition and intake: the vehicle comes with new AFM installed in 2006. A Dinan chip is installed. The valve cover and plenum are powder coated. The intake manifolds and boots were rebuilt and new respectively. The fuel injectors were rebuilt professionally. New cold start injector, TPS, temperature sensors, coil, plug wires and rotor. The alternator was professionally rebuilt as was the starter. Exhaust: the original European headers have been ceramic coated. New original BMW resonator as well as a Super Sprint muffler and tips. Cooling: I replaced the radiator within the last year. This is the second radiator in the last 5 years. They tend to leak after a few years. The belts, hoses, reservoir, thermostat, fan, clutch, temperature sensors and water pump have been replaced. Air-conditioner: I converted the system to R134A and installed a rebuilt compressor with a new evaporator, custom made hoses, dryer, and expansion valve Suspension: Bistein sport shocks with Bavarian auto sport lowering springs, adjustable rear camber, new dog bones, new front upper and lower control arms, upgraded front and rear sway bars. Adjustable front sway linkage. Powder coated aluminum front tower strut. The lower front support was removed, painted, and improved with welded support gusset to the site of the power steering mount. This is a common site of failure for these cars. New power steering hoses. New urethane bushings in the front. CV joints were rebuilt 3 years ago. Brakes: rebuilt calipers front and rear with new rotors and low dust ceramic pads. Stainless steel brake lines Driveline: New Clutch, slave cylinder, master cylinder, shaft guibo, center bearing support, and shift linkage bearings Interior: professionally recovered front and rear seats in original BMW leather. The pneumatic struts have been replaced in both seats. The original rear head rests are in place and in excellent condition. The dash was replaced with a later model 1988 635 CSI dashboard without rips or tears. The sale includes several sets of nice formats. The interior was upgraded with a lighted shift knob, rearview mirror with map lights, and matching later model speaker covers on the rear deck. The vehicle has an Alpine stereo system with amplifier and high end speakers both front and rear. I installed a Programa SI board several years ago. The computer light bar was replaced. Wheels: the vehicle has original E39 BMW style five wheels which were remanufactured and recoated. The tires are in excellent condition. The vehicle has a TPMS with a subtle integrated monitor just below the radio. Paint/Body: the vehicle was professionally re-sprayed approximately 10 years ago. It is in excellent condition. The vehicle is garaged and regularly waxed. As the car sits a bit lower than original, there is cracking of the air dam in several spots. The rear spoiler was replaced with a new BMW OEM. Headlights: All headlamps were upgraded to the flat face Cibie Housings Known Problems: This is a very nice example of the M635CSi but it is not new. It has the little squeaks here and there that are common. It has rock chipping and flex cracks to the air dam, the center console around the hand brake is loose. Left fog lamp is cracked. The Odometer was recently replaced with one with 114,000 miles. It has new gears and a very nice original faceplace. The original odometer (it has been repaired with new gears as well) will come with the car. This vehicle has been meticulously maintained with regular Mobile one oil changes and valve adjustments. The transmission and differential fluid have been changed every year. I will provide the buyer with the car cover, original radio and a box of assorted parts I encourage anyone interested inpurchasing this vehicle to actually drive it. It is an exceedingly nice E24 M6 M635CSi. It is powerful and fast. The buyer is responsible for all aspects of transporting this vehicle to its destination. It can easily be driven cross country without any concerns.
