Vehicle Detail
Beautiful 1951 Cadillac Series 62 Coup (6237) for sale. This big, luxurious, powerful, and opulent design by Harley Earl all combined to ensure Cadillac’s image as “The Standard of the World.” Cadillac built 81,844 cars in 1951, but only 10,132 of the exclusive 2 door Series 62 Club Coupe with no pillars. Equipped with a overhead valve 331 CID engine, a "Hydra-Matic" transmission, and independent front suspension these cars were comfortable and elegant. It's been garaged since we've owned it and it only get's driven a couple of times a year. The original 331 CID Factory Engine was completely rebuilt in 1990. It has a 4 speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, new battery and rebuilt starter. Well maintained with all records. We repainted the interior and had new tuck & roll upholstery installed in the 90's. The tail light lenses, backup light lenses and the hood and trunk crests have all been replaced with new. We've replaced the wheel covers with the new original 51 "sombreros" and wide whitewalls to bring it back to the authentic 51 style. She still looks and drives beautifully. There are many imperfections in the paint and chrome that appear in the photographs. There is a small rust hole just ahead of the right rear fender skirt and two dents behind the rear bumper. If you want to make it into a show car, it will need new paint and chrome. Everything on the car works properly with the exception of the horn, and the original "Selector" tube radio. This car drives great and is a head turning Sunday driver. Inspections are welcome. Feel free to call me at 206-855-1565. If you have a iPhone or iPad I'll be happy to show you the car on FaceTime. Call my iPhone @ 206-383-8670. I am also happy to assist with domestic shipping at your expense. Thank you. Steve. On Jan-30-13 at 08:31:48 PST, seller added the following information: Here are a few questions that came up which I'll answer here for everyone. 1. How are the tires? We put new wide white walls on the car shortly after we acquired it in 1990. As you can see they look great.. The front tires are in very good shape. The tread on the rear tires is worn. If you're planning to drive this car in bad weather, the rear tires should be replaced.2. The interior paint and carpet looks a bit green in the pictures. Is it green or grey? The interior paint, upholstery, carpet and head liner and trunk carpeting are all grey. Not sure why some of the photo's have a slight green tint. 3 How's the head liner? It was replaced on 1990 at the same time as the rest of the interior upholstery. It's in great shape.. I've added a picture to VUVOX 4. Is the trunk lid dented? The picture seems like it might be,There are two dents under the trunk lid that were caused by the bumper bullets. No the trunk lid is not dented. What you're seeing in the picture is the reflection of the bumper bullet. 5. How's the Glass?Generally very good. The rear edge of the front wind vents have some receding of the safety glass laminate. I've included a picture in VUVOX. By the way the 6. Is the small rust hole in the right quarter panel the only hole. Yes. As mentioned there are numerous imperfections in the paint. You can also see in the pictures that the welting between the rear fenders and the body should be replaced. 7. How long have you owned the car? We inherited the car from my wife's Grandfather in California in 1988. Her Grandfather bought the car in 1955. It's always lived in California until we trucked it to Seattle in 1999. We still have the Yellow on Black California plates if you want them. It's been garaged since we've owned it. 8. Are the miles on the odometer original? The odometer has not worked since we inherited the car in 1988 so the exact mileage is uncertain. We've put around 5K to 8K miles on the car since we've owned it. The speedometer works great. 9. What's up with the trunk and hood crests? They are very hard to find.I bought new replacement hood and trunk crests in 1999 and just installed them. You are correct that the trunk crests are very expensive and the hood crests are not available are all now.
