Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE! Here is an excellent opportunity to benefit from my silliness! I've spent tons and tons of money on this car, and I'll get nearly none of it back. The winner will be getting thousands of dollars worth of free parts and labor. It's in decent daily driver condition, or it would make a fantastic, fairly easy project to make it truly beautiful. This is an original V8 car, in the original red color. Nearly everything on the car is original, down to the jack and hubcaps, as far as I know. I paid $3,500 for it in the fall of 2008, and I then spent thousands more making it a reliable daily driver. Here is where all that money went:Metallic ceramic coated headers and all new dual 2.5" exhaust from Jegs, front-to-backNew ignition system including MSD 6AL ignition box with rev limiter, Coil Blaster coil, billet distributor and new wiresAll new suspension including new leaf springs and IAS Performer shocks all aroundNew heavy-duty motor mounts from Schumacher CreativeNew 160A Powermaster alternator and new voltage regulatorAll new brakes (4-wheel drums, no power assist) including pipes, hoses, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, shoes and springsAll new front-end components (this was a huge expense, more for installation cost than the parts) including graphite impregnated poly bushes, pitman arm, idler arm, inner tie rods, outer tie rods, adjustment sleeves, upper and lower ball jointsNew tires x 4 That's the good stuff! It runs and drives really well. I drove it from Boston to Washington DC and back again, and I drove it from Spokane, WA to Portland OR with no issues. It really roars with that exhaust. Now for the bad!The paint is rough. There are several little chips, and the clear coat has peeled away in large areas, particularly on the hood. The driver's side of the front bench seat is in bad shape. There's a hole in the seat surface and another in the back. There are holes cut in the door for speakers. There is rust. :( It's not bad, especially considering it spent most of its life in Maine (original plates included if you're into that sort of thing). There are a couple pin holes in the trunk floor, and a hole in the rocker panels. There is bubbling elsewhere around the fender lips, and some rust on the inner lip of the front passenger fender where it bolts to the car. There is some bubbling of the vinyl top as well. I've tried to get photos of each. The "Park" sensor switch is intermittent. Sometimes I have to shift it to Neutral to start it.The carbs are adjusted rich to compensate for the lean condition introduced by the headers and exhaust, since I couldn't find larger jets for the stock carb. This results in a flat spot just off-idle, so mashing the pedal from a stop needs to be done with some care. All-in, it's a really great car to drive, and I wish I could keep it. I'm only allowed to keep one of my projects, and this one lost!On Jan-27-13 at 13:59:36 PST, seller added the following information: A couple more details... First, to be clear, there is a small hole in EACH rocker panel (one per side). All of the detail photos I've posted here are of the passenger side, but I have photos of the driver's side as well. If you would like additional photos of anything, please mail me. Also, I'm happy to arrange a viewing in person. There are a couple other small items I forgot to mention first time around as well. The fuel gauge does not work, and the radio does not work. Also, in the list of new parts: the starter motor was replaced, one of the arm rests was replaced, the windshield washer reservoir is new (from Year One).Included in the sale is ONE 1972 Maine plate (I thought I had two, but could only find one). New poly sway-bar bushings and end-links (came with the rest of the front-end parts, but car doesn't have a sway bar currently, so they've not been installed). The original distributor and alternator will be there (in the boxes the new parts came in). There are probably about half the parts you would need to rebuild the brakes a second time as well, due to an ordering miscommunication (some shoes, two wheel cylinders, additional springs). I will also include a new thermostat and gasket. Also included are receipts for nearly all the parts mentioned above, the original window sticker, and the original build sheet from under the back seat.
