Vehicle Detail
Timewarp back to February 1988, this Plymouth was on the cover of Street Rodder magazine. It is in basically the same condition now that it was then. We took a lot of pictures but if you have any questions or need a picture of something else please let us know. We did not do the customization so I cant really answer questions regarding paint material or body filler type, etc. Please refer to the magazine article, it will answer most questions. I only can tell you my opinion from owning and driving the vehicle. Exterior: Shows excellent, a few paint chips on the lower edge where the trunk lid closes towards the bottom. If you dont close the lid from the center, the edge of the lid will nick the paint. I took pictures to show the touch up spot. There are two holes in the upper of the doors where the previous owner had mirrors installed. He wanted to keep the mirrors for another vehicle and I have not found any that will fit these holes so I installed a clamp on mirror on the drivers side. There are some minor scratches here and there but I would rate the paint a 8 out of 10. Remember it was restored in 1988 but stored indoors and hardly driven since then. Because the bumpers are custom and rechomed, to be perfect the grille pieces would need to be removed and rechromed. They are in great condition but when you compare new bumpers next to used brightwork, if you are picky, you can tell. Just thought I would mention it. Chassis: It is the original chassis but has been updated with a 9 inch ford rear end and front disc brakes. The front shocks are still in the stock location (control arm to control arm) which was a poor design (very spongy). There are various articles on the net describing this and some easy remedies. The steering has been changed to a manual rack and pinion. I was told the front springs were cut to lower the car, they cut too much so it has some little blocks in the springs to lift it. Drivetrain: Runs and shifts excellent. Chevy 350 with a turbo 350 transmission. The car could use a different rear end ratio for the highway (people drive alot faster now than they did in 1988. I replaced the carb with an Edlebrock 600 cfm, the old carb was sticky and too large for the engine. Starts every time. I purchased an aluminum radiator for the car but did not install it, this will be included with the car. (Here in Sacramento, on the hottest days with the a/c on and in traffic, I noticed the temperature would range a little high, I am sure the issue is with the original radiator. If the a/c was not on, the temperature would stay normal. Water pump and thermostat were replaced this last summer. Interior: Excellent condition, A/C blows cold but only one center vent by your legs. Worked suprisingly well though on the hot days. Not sure what aftermarket manufacturer the A/C is. Please look at the photos and information from the magazine, it describes the complete car and is pretty much as it is currently. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We are selling this car for a fraction of what it would take to build a car of this quality these days. I believe I have disclosed all items regarding the vehicle, dont be afraid to ask if you have any questions.
