Vehicle Detail

Beautiful Blue with Gray Loaded Leather Interior and Flawless Black Top. As you may or may not have noticed, I sell a TON of Volvos. This was to be one of those cars. Actually, I bought it for a playtoy come next summer!! So, I testdrive it to mildly check out what it may or may not need. Drives nice. A couple squeaks. Brakes need work. No biggie. Car started right up. Trans shifted properly. Turbo worked as it should. Give the thumbs up and pickup the car. Get it back to my shop to start the rehab process about a week later. Hop in the car. Starts right up. Reverse. Then forward up my driveway. Out onto the street. Get about 4 car lengths and it falls on it's face while making a heck of a noise. Damn. Turn around and limp back to the shop and here it sits. My initial diagnosis is a shot oil pump, yet no low pressure light came on. Timing belt is fine. Motor is very hard starting and once running, noisy noisy noisy...likes valves clatter and knocks. MY LOSS YOUR GAIN!! You can part this car out for $1000s in profit. The functioning power top alone is worth $1000. The working power window assemblies are worth $100s. Glass, lenses, body panels, $500 in scrap at the junk yard, even. I'd have to expect over the years to come across a few bad ones. Sure I have, but I've NEVER had a Volvo basically drop a motor like this. Very sad actually since these cars are so tough and reliable. So, my searches found a local pick-n-pull yard with a 99 Volvo S70 motor. I go out and inspect it as best I could since it was in a wreck. But the $250 (plus $50 core) was the right price!! Unfortunately, after the cold weather hit and factoring in my time, this project is a NO-GO. I just don't have the time to be in a pull-it yard then come back to do the swap in this car. Too many things on my plate. The donor car in the yard is still available for the same price to you, for the records. The donor car was in a front end crash but looks to have missed the engine. There is plenty of room to remove the motor since the front is basically gone. Spend a day with a buddy and $300 and this car is back on the road! So...now I offer it at NO RESERVE!! THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE SALE! The ONLY eyesore on the exterior of the car is the front lower nose. It's actually not as bad as it looks. The nose caught my tow-dolly and popped the inner plastic out of place. I just never popped it back. The split can be reglued and saved for appearances. The dull spots you see on the car are actually frozen water spots. I washed it off but it was so cold, it froze quickly. The paint shines very well. The car is undetailed but complete for the most part. As you can see, there is a rim missing. It's the regular Turbo style Volvo wheels and are very common, ie CHEAP to replace. 2 of them look nice and a 3rd is ugly. The spare is the original with the car. Altho the tires hold air, they are all mismatched brands and size. Basically need replacing but good enough for towing or moving from A to B. Absolutely ZERO visible rust to be found on the car. Outside the front bumper cover, there are no visible signs of body repairs or damages. Only a handful of dings and no dents. I'm no bodyman, but the paint seems to be original. Stitch up the lower bumper cover and buff the car, it will be justlikenew2u!! Above you can see the typical broken power antenna mast. Below you can see the top is perfect. When I picked up the car originally, the top operated flawlessly. Volvo tops usually outlast the car, unlike BMWs and Saabs. A few pics down, you can see the top operates, but a weak battery and the extreme cold (frozen latches) prevented total actuation. I assure you, the top operates as it should. Above you can see a few deep scratches on the corner of the bumper. Not hideous, but there. I appologize that the front tire is low here. It does hold air, but was low from the cold and sitting. I didn't realize it until I moved it here for pics. The interior is in decent shape. NEEDS, and I can't stress this enough....NEEDS a professional detail. Front to back top to bottom. As you can see the carpet is filthy. Totally salvagable, but filthy. Yet amazingly the leather and vinyl look great. From what I can tell ALL the power items works as they should considering my limited seat time: ALL windows, locks, top, both HEATED power seats. I wasn't able to check the heat or the AC, but I assume it's only a freon recharge away from being fully functional. The radio you see in the pics is NOT INCLUDED. I removed it for another project, but I will say, the sound was very nice and amazingly BASS heavy. Considering this car is a convertible, that shouldn't happen. Toss in your favorite aftermarket CD head unit, and you will love the speakers that are in the car! Or snag another factory Volvo radio. They are super reliable! Below you can see ALL the dummy lights illuminate upon startup with only the SRS and Check Engine(this one is obvious) lights staying on during run. No cracks in the dash. Outside the typical driver's bolster wear, the leather looks great with the rear seats looking barely sat on. Only one key and the base manual are included. Below you can see the decently clean undetailed engine compartment. Normally I brag about this part, but under these circumstances, this time I cannot. Actually, while I shot these pics, the car was running. I shut it off to take the before and after of the dummy lights on the dash, but the car wouldn't restart. I went thru 2 batteries and after about 3 hours of waiting, was finally able to restart (altho barely running) and park backed up on a mild hill....where it sits now awaiting your pickup. The car comes as you see it in the pics but of course is AS-IS/AS-SHOWN, complete minus the factory radio and battery (old one was shot). THE CAR WILL NEED TO BE TOWED. I do not expect the car to restart and it surely cannot be driven. It is parked in a spot with a mild hill for rolling/loading/etc. Please account for this as I have no way to move it otherwise. A tow truck or a truck with a dolly will easily fit in front of the car for loading purposes. I will, of course, assist in loading the best I can. I have the title and paperwork in hand and my rules (see below) apply. I will also provide the winning buyer with the location and name of the Pull-It yard (it's nearby about 15-20 miles away) for purchase of that engine I spoke of above. This car finished is worth big bucks, especially come next summer...which gives you just enough time to get it done!! Inspect my excellent feedbacks!! BID and BUY with 100% CONFIDENCE! NO RESERVE!!! GOOD LUCK!! I apologize in advance if I sound like I'm scolding....but this NEEDS to be said. This vehicle is AS-IS/AS-SHOWN. The vehicle is in Illinois being sold by a dealer. There are many great affordable aftermarket warranty companies out there that will warranty nearly anything. Use them. WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE for your individual state's INSPECTION or EMISSIONS compliance. I am simply trying to offer you and possibly your family a quality reliable vehicle. Like most Americans, I still can't afford a new car. I regularly sell $3000-$6000 vehicles. Mostly what I would personally drive or own. I don't know if you are buying in my state or in Virginia or California...so I HAVE to make our cars ready for the road trip. I don't know who will be driving the car. So I MUST make it ready for your teen or your job in the morning. I can only promise I do the BEST that I can with what I have and what I sell. My EXCELLENT FEEDBACKS prove it. I'm not here to rip people off. I'm also here to help so feel free to contact me after purchase for anything. Even if you have any questions about a future purchase. Also, understand that I spend many countless hours (inspecting, repairing, cleaning, taking pics and writing specific personal ads) for everything I sell...not to mention the $125 sell fee that is charged to me at the end. Please don't jack around if you don't plan to go thru with the purchase. Thanks for your understanding. Now you're at the bottom. Hopefully I've covered the main specifics of the vehicle and eased your mind. I understand that you are putting yourself or your loved ones in this vehicle. I personally have put my own mother in an 01 C70 with 185k miles(which I just roadtripped 1500miles) and I personally drove a 98 S70 with 220k miles(which I just sold)! Many of my personal friends drive cars that I have sold them. My best friend is on his 5th from me. I treat you no different. If I haven't covered any of your questions or concerns, please feel free to email or call me at 815.744.7223. My name is Eric. Also, understand that I have the right to end the auction early due to local sale. I STILL REQUIRE a $500 deposit to be made within 24hours. Use Paypal for the deposit please. Of course I understand each bidder/buyer has different payment needs (like using Bill Me Later or Credit Cards) and I will assist when possible. Sorry....no financing is available on this transaction. Please secure your own from you bank of choice BEFORE bidding. Remember....24 hours $500 deposit due....3 days for payment in FULL. Naturally I will assist in ANY shipping needs! Thank you for your interest on this NO RESERVE auction! GOOD LUCK! Venue of sale is Kendall County, Illinois. ALL BUYERS are responsible for $99 DOC fee. ALL ILLINOIS BUYERS responsible for 6.25% sales tax, $99 License Plate fee (or $30 current valid plate transfer fee), $95 Title fee. ALL COOK COUNTY (Chicago area) BUYERS responsible for 8.25% sales tax. There are about 8 other states that I (unfortunately) have to collect tax....but it's usually at a discount vs. regular in state. Vehicle is sold AS-IS/AS-SHOWN with no warranty expressed or implied. Please follow deposit and payment instructions posted. Cash in person is preferred payment. After full payment is made, you will receive vehicle (as shown/stated in this ad), title, associated paperwork and key(s). Please email or call regarding out of state pickup at local train station (Union Station-Joliet, IL) or closest airport (Midway-Chicago-MDW). I will happily assist in pickup for a fee to cover my time and fuel costs.
