Up for auction is a nice 1946 art deco era Chevy truck Used in a Hollywood motion picture! Before I tell you about the truck itself here is the scoop about its fame. This wonderful little Chevy has been owned for the last 7 years by renowned motion picture title designer& director Dan Perri of Star Wars fame. Dan is currently in production on the mafia feature film Sharkskin. The Chevy will be seen in the movie on the famous CBS New York Street set in Studio City, California. I have worked on this film myself and it is exciting and sure to be wonderful with Dan Perri directing. I HAVE LISTED ANOTHER ONE OF DAN PERRI'S CARS FROM THE MOVIE IT'S A 1936 CHEVROLET SEDAN BUY THEM BOTH AND HAVE THE PAIR! Seems to be solid rust free other then surface rust on a few spots. It could use a new paint job and very minimal body work. Current owner since 2005. Prior history unknown. Mostly stock unmodified condition with a few exceptions. It has a 12 volt charging system and battery. The pick up bed has been fabricated out of sheet metal. The engine and drive train is stock and in good working order. The engine runs smoothly on all 6 cylinders (seems to be a 216cid but unverified) and does not smoke or seem to be burning any oil. It idles nice mostly and does not click or clatter nor make and mechanical valve or rod noises. A recently rebuilt starter is installed and a new fan belt. The truck starts, runs, drives on the freeway, and is in basic driver condition. It will need basic maintenance services and could really use a carburetor overhaul. The clutch is ok and does not slip. The brake system is in working order but I have not pulled the wheels and drums to do an inspection. It stops ok as a 46 would be expected to. The right side windshield is cracked. The dash lamps are not working. It has a period correct heater and the fan comes on but not sure if it actually gets hot. The windshield wiper is not working. It has turn signals and they do work. The lights are working. The windows in the doors roll up and down. The instruments are in working order. It has decent oil pressure. The exhaust system is in ok condition and the engine sounds quiet so no exhaust leaks. This truck is ready to work or just be driven for fun or would make a great restoration project. It could be kept totally stock or modified into a restomod. I am open to any and all questions. I tried to take pictures to show as much as possible so what you see is what you get. I have put a reasonable reserve on this vehicle. Please do not ask what my reserve is. The purpose of the hidden reserve is self explanatory. These trucks were only manufactured for civilian sale in 41-2 and 46 so they are very rare. Try to find one and you will see. The winning bidder will have to pay a $500.00 NON refundable deposit within 24hrs of auction close. Full payment due within 72hrs. On Jan-09-13 at 18:51:31 PST, seller added the following information: I just drove this truck 70 miles today. I got an honest 20 mpg because I filled it up before and after and checked the mileage. Also am showing here a photo of the windshield in the cranked open position although the cranking mechanism is broken the window opens and closes manually nicely and even stayed open at freeway speed. The truck ran pretty well even though it does need a carb overhaul and tune up desperately so it does cough and spit intermittently even though it runs smoothly on all 6 cylinders and idles decently. I am also showing a new photo of the speedometer at a 50 mph reading. I used a GPS application on my smart phone and clocked the truck at actual 35mph with 29mph indicated on the speedo. Also clocked the truck at actual 62mph at 50 mph indicated. The vehicle felt comfortable at 55-60 and was not maxed out but was at the top of it's comfort zone engine wise. Wanted to mention the following. I discovered that the heater works. The horn works. The four fenders are fiberglass replacement fenders.
