Vehicle Detail

The truck has just been reposted due to a buyer fail. This is a rare, low-production, bone-stock, 1.5 ton 1950 Ford F4 flatbed truck with a 12ft hydraulic dump. It spent all but the past 8yrs or so in British Columbia, Canada as a one-owner, light duty farm truck. It apparently was barn-garaged for its lifetime up there and has been under tarp cover storage here. It was purchased from the original Canadian owner by a friend who intended to use it for his business but the project suffered from shifting priorities and he needs to find a home for it right now. The F4 was intended to be a mid-range truck positioned between the smaller pickups and heavier-duty F7's. Mechanical and some body parts are interchangeable with both the lighter and heavier duty models. This truck has the stock dual wheels and heavy single frame which proved stronger and less prone to corrosion than the double-frame models. The cab body, channeling, fender panels, hood and doors are all dent/ding free. There is no cancer that I can see save for some very minor pinholes on one lower corner of each door. The floor pan is solid with no flaking or rust-through as are the door bottoms. The trim was removed in anticipation of the new primer/paint and all the pieces are included. The truck has the original Ford flathead V8 with all original accessories including the very rare original carb and floor-shift 4spd. It has not been fired up for about 4yrs but turns freely and is not seized. There was a known spark problem when the truck was brought down 8yrs ago. These Ford flatheads were fairly notorious for going through distributors because of their location mounted to the front of the engine under the water pump. I suspect this is probably the case here. With the current popularity of vintage flatheads, parts are easily sourced on the web and rebuild/servicing is comparable to contemporary powerplants. The hydraulics worked fine when the truck was last moved. It shows 62,653 original miles and there is little doubt these are unrolled miles due to what is known about its lifetime work history. There was never a title issued in Canada but the truck purchase will include the US Customs Entry Document required when ownership transferred 8yrs ago. The original owner's manual is also included. The ID plate indicates style #FDG50-2952, body#15263.This would make a great business show-truck or very competent work truck, farmer's market runner.....etc. Having had a couple projects of my own like this over the years, I believe this would be a very easy winter project. It would be tow-able but I suggest trailering it for any distance. I'm in North Tacoma and the truck is a couple minutes away. I'm posting this for the owner and would be happy to answer any questions or will try to run answers down. I do have more pictures and will forward them on request. My schedule is fairly flexible and the truck is very accessible to show if you are local. If you are not local, I'm happy to help arrange transport if I can but all costs, including transport insurance are the buyers. This is 'as is' and no return will be accepted. The buyer will be expected to abide by the terms of the ebay auction. It is for sale locally and may be removed if sold. A non-refundable deposit of $500 made in CASH or cleared Money Order is due within 1 week of auction-end with the balance due upon pickup of the vehicle. I am able to be somewhat flexible on the pickup timeframe however, in consideration of the owner's schedule, a specific date must be identified in correspondence with me at auction end. PLEASE DISREGARD ANY SHIPPING COSTS NOTED IN THE AUCTION AS SHIPPING IS NOT INCLUDED.The asking price is $1,200....just over the scrap value and very deep under the parts value especially given the very good condition of this very original truck. I'd love to see it find a good home very soon. Please respond to this posting with your questions and I will respond as soon as reasonably possible.
