Vehicle Detail

1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 4 speed Special OrderI have all PHS build and option sheetsUltra Rare special order car made to go racing in 1967This car has never been offered for sale and is a 1 of 1This car was ordered with the following options:Special order paint (GM Truck Orange) cowl has "Special" on Paint code, not - -Black Standard Bucket Seat with Console400 Big Block Ram Air4 Speed Muncie TransmissionWood Grain DashSpecial Wood Grain Steering WheelPosi-TractionBlack Side Accent Stripe This car was ordered specifically to go racing in 1967 on the Southern California Circuit. When the car was made, the Van Nuys plant did not have all the parts to complete the Ram-Air setup and it left the plant without the option. It was then added as ordered by the dealer. All Factory 1967 Only Ram-Air Sheet Metal parts still on car, including the dual factory traction bar brackets that only the ram-air cars came with from Van Nuys. It was then set up with 4:33 gears and rare Racing traction bars that are also still on the car today. That person who set it up for racing and with complete knowledge of the car is still local and gave the complete history of the car which also matched the statements given by the 81 year old owner that I got it from. He has owned it since the early 1970s. He had kept it hidden from public since then. It is in need of a complete restoration and is a great candidate. The car is a complete rolling chassis and has the wrong motor and trans in the car. It does come with the correct date coded 1967 400 block that is date matched exactly for the car.....Original? I do not know, as they did not stamp VIN #s into the pontiacs in 1967.... The car raced the circuit 1967-1973 and was running 11.50s in street stock form in 1967 which was the fastest there was around, according to them. A Turbo 400 was added in 1970 to try to make the car faster with a B&M floor shifter which are still in the car. 4 Speed pedals still in the car as well. When they were done racing the car, a stock motor was put in the car to drive which is still in the car (Looks like a early 389). The car was broken into in 1974 or 1975 and the seats, steering wheel, wheels, were taken and the car has sat ever since......Had 79,000 miles at that point which it still does. The coolest color never put on a car.The following pictures are from its location where it sat until now. I have statements to that fact by the person who set it up for racing in 1967 when the car came in to the dealer in Canoga Park, he is the one who added the RAM AIR stuff, Rare racing traction bars, gears, secret speed secrets, etc...... The car will be for sale until an offer is accepted, will be fair but will not be cheap, I would rather keep it. It is believed to be the only GM Truck Orange made in 1967.The car has a couple small spots of rust on roof easily fixable, behind rear window, easily fixable, passenger-side floor has a small area as well, easily fixable, small rust in floor under passenger side front seat that is aslo easily fixable. Trunk has some rust as well and not sure if it is easier to fix it or replace it. I have purchased a new 400 hood and trunk that go with the car, easier to replace them than to fix them. Car needs misc. body work, all original metal and easily fixed. Please call me with any questions, Kenny (805) 207-7421Not taking any trades, ThanksThe car is being sold in As-Is and Where-Is condition and is the buyers responsiblility to cover all towing expenses, can be stored here for a little while with no problems. Please come to inspect. Call me for appointment. On Dec-24-12 at 09:11:51 PST, seller added the following information: I added a picture of an Orange 1968 restored. Similar to what this would have looked like. KOn Dec-24-12 at 12:00:32 PST, seller added the following information: I added the PHS papers as requested by many. Thanks for the questions. Engine code as built was a WU code which is California equipped with A.I.R. which is Air Injection (Smog Pump). There were 1220 of these made in a Manual Transmission. There are believed to be a handful of special order paint scheme. The only Bright GM Truck Orange one they had made 1 of 1. If you look at the production numbers of the California equipped Ram-Air 400 cars made, apparently they sent out 4 of them, This car was ordered with Ram-Air but sent out without it, most likely due to the Los Angeles/Van Nuys plant not having all the parts. This is why they were added at the dealership when new...? (From an Ex GM/Van Nuys Employee who said he remembered)(He didn't think Van Nuys had made any 1967 Ram Air Firebirds...) Thanks for all the clarification from all you Pontiac Enthusiasts!.............Keep it coming, and again, Thanks, KennyOn Dec-24-12 at 15:24:32 PST, seller added the following information: This car was not made as a Ram-Air at the factory. It was added at the dealer as the ad states. I wanted to clarify due to a couple of questions. It was ordered that way. Not built that way. I have added the PHS papers so you can see exactly how it was built in 1967. Thanks, Kenny On Dec-24-12 at 15:41:44 PST, seller added the following information: I guess all Firebirds were made at Ohio Plant in 1967.Thanks Pontiac Guys...On Dec-24-12 at 16:05:41 PST, seller added the following information: I add a picture of the passenger side door at rear, good clean picture of original color, all original Jamb. Has GM stickerOn Dec-25-12 at 07:50:34 PST, seller added the following information: I Lowered the Reserve for you. Have fun. Merry Christmas! On Dec-28-12 at 12:12:41 PST, seller added the following information: OK. I have added the pictures everyone is asking for: Inside, Outside, Sides, Floors, Dash.....Everything As I had described...... Again, No cancer on quarter panel at all.....None on doors, at all..... Floors all good except small spots in picture and highlighted at Passenger side rear floor where you put your feet....Does not need floors. Rims do not go with car. Old SW aftermarket gauges do not go with car. If you really need them I will work out seperate price with buyer only.
