Up for auction is a very attractive MGB roadster. The car has spent its entire life in the dry climate of California as can be seen by the early blue license plate. This has preserved the car well. I have sold several cars on Ebay with positive results (please check my feedback) and I have found it best to describe the car in categories. EXTERIOR/BODY The body is very straight with no dents and all original sheet metal. It has even door, trunk and hood gaps and the doors shut precisely without needing to be slammed. There are no signs of rust including the underside and floors. The car was originally an Olive Drab colour called Tundra. It is now bright red apart from the trunk and engine bay that are black. The paint is newer and is very glossy with only a few light scratches that could be easily polished out. The bright-work is still shiny and the rubber seals appear to be newer as they are in very good condition. The side glass in in excellent condition and the windshield is ok except for a small bulls eye on the passenger side. The lights and lenses are in very good condition with newer halogen headlamps up front. The rubber bumper have no rips or tears. The tires are matching 70 series Firestones with plenty of tread left. The trim rings are in good shape apart from the passenger side rear which has a good ding in it. The soft top is brand new. DRIVETRAIN The engine starts up easily and idles smoothly at around 900 RPM. It has about 60 PSI of oil pressure at idle (See photo of dash) and does not smoke or knock. The cylinder head was recently rebuilt as was the radiator and carburetor. It also has a new water pump, fuel pump and gas tank. The clutch has a light and smooth operation and does not slip or grind. The transmission shifts crisply. SUSPENSION AND BRAKES The front and rear brakes have been recently rebuilt including new drums and rotors. The front suspension is also rebuilt with new shocks, coil springs and urethane bushings which gives the MGB a nice taut ride. ELECTRICAL All the exterior lights work as do the dash lights. The map light does not work. The turn signals and brake lights work as do the wipers and heater fan. The wiring appears original with little to no modifications. INTERIOR The carpet, door and kick panels are in excellent condition showing no wear. The seats have been re-upholstered in leather and are in good condition showing a little wear. The dash is the weakest part of the interior as it has 3 cracks on it, but they are not too noticeable. The great sounding stereo system is a pioneer AM/FM CD player with two kicker and two Coustic speakers. All the gauges are original and work well except for Speedometer which registers the speed but the odometer is frozen at 3999 miles. I am a British car mechanic with 30 years experience and I bought this car locally from a lady who had lost her job and couldn't afford to finish the project. She had recently had the fuel pump and fuel tank replaced, but could not get the car to idle or accelerate properly. I purchased the car in this condition and found a crack internally in the carburetor. I replaced the carburetor, set the ignition timing and changed the oil and now it runs great. I have also put a new set of wiper blades on it and replaced the torn soft top with a new high-end Robbins top with a zip-out rear window. The MG is currently registered under a planned non-op so no back fees are due and this car is smog exempt in California.
