It is said a picture is worth a thousand words...and in this case the photos do not do her justice! **************************************************** When was the last time you saw 60's "TURNPIKE CRUISER" like this '64 MAGNIFICENT MONTEREY Not only are these big cruisers rare as rare as 3-dollar bills but they offer all the performance that Ford could deliver in an era when full-sized also meant high-performance. Clearly related to the "bullet birds" this Monterey looks like the Thunderbird's big brother which is certainly a good thing. From the pointed front fender to the absolutely massive rear quarters with the last vestiges of tailfins still clinging to their edges this car has a formidable appearance. It's hard to resist taking a drive when this is sitting in your garage. There's still plenty of chrome which was used to emphasize the Mercury's upscale position in the Ford model hierarchy and you'll definitely dig the tightly-grained grille with individual headlight cups the trim running along the tops of the fenders all the way back and the tail section that recalls the famous Turnpike Cruisers of the late-50s. There's a lot here to like. You can also forget Mercury's staid stodgy image because the red and white interior of this convertible says "Let's party!" Two wide bench seats give it legitimate room for six with plenty of leg and elbow room for everyone and it does it with style.
