Vehicle Detail

This is a very complete and restorable 1947 Diamond T Model 201 1 Ton pickup truck. It has a unique specially built custom pickup box that has a tool storage drawer in front of the left rear wheel (see photo of it in the open position). There are most of two of the original Hercules flathead 6 cylinder engines included that are in the pickup box. The original 4 speed transmission is in the truck and an extra one is included in the pickup box. I believe that the best feature on this truck has to be the very special pickup bed. This pickup has the correct style of Diamond T pickup rear fenders and the correct gas tank filler neck that were used with the pickup box rather than a flat bed. I suspect this truck may have been shipped from the factory with a Diamond T pickup box that may have been damaged somehow so some metal craftsman built the box that is on it now. Since this box was made from 1/8" thick steel, it is "Hell For Stout" and has no dents or damage in it anywhere except for some rust pitting of the lower inside surfaces. I suspect some fool left this gem outside with dirt or leaves in it and that caused the minor corrosion that it now has. The best part of this box has to be the unique and very handy tool drawer that is about 2 feet wide by about 3 feet deep and located in front of the left rear wheel. This drawer is large enough for a set of 3/4" and 1" drive sockets as well as some more larger wrenches or other tools. The tops of the sides of this box are about 3" higher than those on the standard Diamond T box. That extra box side height makes the top of the cab roof look a bit lower which makes this truck look a bit sleeker than the standard Model 201 Diamond T pickup. The sides on this box are super straight as is the tail gate. PLEASE NOTE : I realize what it is like to buy something as complex as a vehicle sight unseen from a couple of dozen photos. Therefore, I have just completed loading 81 larger and more detailed photos of the truck to my Photobucket.com photo site. Please click on the link below: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v642/toysanyone/1947%20Diamond%20T%20Pickup%20Model%20201/ or go to Photobucket.com and sign in as toysanyone and use the word vehicles for the password. A page will open with a column of albums on the right side of that page. Please scroll down that list till you come to "1947 Diamond T Pickup Model 201" and click on that album title. A page with small thumbnail photos will open up. Click on any photo you wish to see in greater detail and it will enlarge to 100% of the original full size. Please let me know if you have difficulty with that photo site and I will help you. Thanks a lot, Bob Woodburn - phone 406-799-1847 in Montana I bought this truck with the correct painted die-cast grilles and ornament rather than the stainless steel and chrome parts that are on it in the photos. I removed the original grilles and ornament and started to strip several layers of paint from them to make it look presentable for a local car show last fall. After working with paint remover on the three parts for about 4 hours, I realized that I did not have time to strip all of the paint from those parts and repaint them silver or a cream color before the show. Therefore, I bought a new stainless steel vertical center bar from a local friend and borrowed a pair of later 1949 vintage stainless steel grilles, a chrome ornament and the lower center stainless steel piece from him for use during the show. I installed those parts as you can see in the photos. The stainless grilles, lower center piece and the chrome ornament belong to my friend and do not sell with this pickup. The proper very nice die-cast grilles and painted ornament will be included with this pickup when it sells. The new stainless steel vertical center bar shown in the photos will also be included with this pickup when it sells. The six horizontal "whiskers" at the bottom of the grille that are painted gray are also original to and included with this pickup. I do not have a correct Diamond T front bumper but I do have a pair of the front bumper brackets for one side that are not shown in the photos but are included. I have a good driver's side running board that is included but not shown installed in the photos. I am still looking for a passenger's side running board so please help me out here if you can. I have an extra driver's side running board that I can trade if you like. A nice original 16" rim with a tire on it are also included for use as a spare. It will fit on the large ring on the right side of the box in front of the right rear fender. I am sorry I forgot to mount it before the photos were taken. The cowl on the driver's side of the cab has a touch of rusted out sheet metal below the bottom door hinge but the passenger's side looks fine. The doors are not rusted out and neither are the cab door sills, the floor boards nor the back of the cab. Someone removed the drip rails above both of the doors and also used bondo to fill in the joint between the back of the roof and top of the rear of the cab. PLEASE NOTE : I listed this pickup with the very hard to find original 16" Diamond T chrome plated wheel covers. If the winner of this auction does not want them for whatever reason, I will deduct $1,000 from the sale price of this truck and keep them for my next Diamond T pickup project. I received an email from a Diamond T collector asking if he could buy the engines with this truck if it does not sell. I will not sell them unless the new owner of this truck plans to repower it and does not want the engines. I am thinking they should be worth $1,000 for the pair if anyone is serious about buying one of these scarce engines. The last 11 photos on my Photobucket.com site show a nice red late 1948 or 1949 Model 201 Diamond T hood with the stainless steel side trim pieces and the brass name plates. The hood on this truck is rusted a bit down the center near the hinge. The new owner of this truck can choose which ever hood they would most like to have. Both hoods are not included with this truck, just which ever hood the new owner chooses. I am sure anyone would choose the red hood with the stainless steel trim. I did not put the better red hood on this truck for the show last August because this gray truck looks better with the gray hood. Thanks again, Bob Woodburn - phone 406-799-1847 in Bozeman, Montana
