Vehicle Detail
This is a 1978 Honda 550 CB in excellent condition. I am only selling it because I have too many toys & am consolidating. It has been very well cared for and maintained with lots of new parts. ($911 service done in 2011). New front tire, new pipes, new windscreen, new radio with AM FM CD MP3 AUX and all new speakers. New BMW hunter green paint (no accident, just wanted saddlebags & tank to match, original bike tank & sides were brown & fairing & bags were white.). Actual current mileage right now is 16,970 but I am riding it so that will change slightly before close of auction. I bought it from an aging biker back in the early 90s, it was his back up bike that he never rode and since my other bikes are sportbikes it became my backup as well- sadly it has not been ridden much at all, and it has been kept garaged, covered, and on a battery maintainer most of its life. Starts right up and runs flawlessly. I am selling it As Is due to age but with all that was put into this machine you won't find a more reliable bike this age. All paperwork is included and the bike shop is nearby my house as is the paint shop, you are welcome to contact them. You are also welcome to come view the bike any time prior to close of auction. The only issue I am aware of of is that occasionally when you hit the rear brake the radio fades out for a split second. It has always done this and nobody has been able to explain or repair that. There is a very small tear in the seatback (about an inch) and a strange red mark on the seat, both are barely noticeable and were there when I bought it and have not gotten any worse with time. The seat is very well padded (I suspect it isn't original) and very comfortable for 2 people. There is of course small amounts of surface rust in places but I challenge you to find this bike any cleaner elsewhere. There are two hard locking saddlebags (mounting hardware could probably stand to be tightened) and a locking helmet trunk (see pictures) that I didn't put back on the bike after it was painted. I also have a helmet that was painted to match that you are welcome to (it will need to be reassembled). Bike is located in Reading PA. Again you are welcome to come view it anytime before auction close. Any cost of transfer is the Buyer's responsibility and I do require the Title transfer be completed immediately. Any Insurance, tags, etc are Buyers responsibility. Buyer is responsible to pick up bike or arrange transport. ALTHO I will be willing to deliver the bike WITHIN reason at the Buyer's expense (including a means for me to get back home) since the bike is very roadworthy and streetlegal. It is currently PA registered & insured & has a valid PA Inspection thru August. Contact me with ANY questions! OK, For the 40 or so people that keep watching this & to answer a few questions: I am not going to relist at a lower price. This bike is in excellent condition, I am only selling it because I have 3 bikes- I am not a "motivated" seller nor does this bike need work or cost me $ that I need to unload it. That said- NO, I am not going to give it away or donate it, if you even ASK that, get OFF EBay and GET A JOB. I have put a fair amount of money and time into this bike & it is in perfect shape- so NO I am not going to "part it out". I am also not going to do any work to it and then sell it to you at a cheaper price. Seriously? $900 in recent mechanicals, perfect paint, new stereo and I do still ride it and enjoy it- so WHY would I waste time undoing the work and then selling it for less than value?? You don't like saddlebags or a radio or fairing, fine- buy it and then modify it however you want. I am selling it because I don't have time to enjoy all the toys I have but I am not giving anything away nor am I putting time in on someone else's project. IF you want, I can gladly take the bike to my local shop and you can have whatever you want done to it AT YOUR EXPENSE AFTER THE PURCHASE. Hope that clears things up. Again, anyone is welcome to come look at the bike anytime, I had a nice ride over the weekend. If it doesn't sell this time I'll probably wait & relist it in the Spring.
