Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1964 Chevy Impala Station Wagon. I bought this car 5 years ago, with the intention of bringing it back to it's original condition. I never registered it in my state, and I still have the Virginia title that the seller gave me. I had a complete new brake system installed on it, but unfortunately that's as far as I've gotten. I lost my storage for it a couple of years ago, and now it sits on the side of my garage under tarps. Not what I had planned. Now I need to let her go to someone that has the time and the money to restore her properly. She can be a beauty. First the good: She is all there. Although I haven't attempted to start it in a couple of years, the original 283 ran strong when I parked it, and I don't detect any strange leaks or puddles. The frame and floor pans appear solid, but I did not rip the carpets up. All the glass is there and in perfect condition. Some of those pieces are difficult to find, and they're expensive. The bumpers are solid, and I don't see much, if any, pitting. Most of the trim pieces are in good condition, including the 4 original hubcaps. The dashboard is in remarkable condition for it's age, with no rips or cracks. With the exception of a little crack on the driver's seat back, all the vinyl seats are in great condition. (although they are filthy). The taillights, directional signals and headlights are all in great condition. It still has one of it's original T3 high beams!! I believe the original AM radio still worked, but I can't check it now. The bad: It appears that the front clip was replaced, as I can see some blue paint under the green. I don't know the history of the car so I can only guess why. The 2 speed tranny was slipping bad when I parked it, and it could be something as simple as adding fluid. I never checked. The small rust spots that were primed, are now coming back. It will need some body work. The weather stripping is shot, and now the carpets need to be replaced. The headliner is missing. (like that when I bought it) The cargo area is rough, and the sides need work. The battery is dead, and will need to be replaced. The upper door panels aren't too bad, but the carpeted door panel bottoms are gone. The arm rests are there, but the vinyl is cracked. Probably needs tires too. The front driver's side lost air from sitting too long. All in all, this can be a nice project for someone. Perhaps a father/son project. You don't see too many of these wagons come up for auction, as the wagons are usually parted out to restore the convertibles or 2 door sports coupes. Again, this car is being sold as a PROJECT! I encourage anyone interested to look at the vehicle prior to bidding. Your bid is a binding agreement. I do not ship, nor know of any shippers. I will help whatever shipper the buyer decides to hire. On Nov-20-12 at 21:05:33 PST, seller added the following information: ***11-20-12*** I had a few requests from some Ebayers, to show photos of the Impala that weren't taken from such a close distance. Because the car is currently not running, the only photos that I had were when I bought the car 5 years ago, as it was being flat bedded back to my town. As you can see, the car is virtually the same now as it was then.......maybe just a little dirtier. I also had some requests for a "Buy it Now" price. I'd like to let the 7 day auction run it's course. This car is a GREAT PROJECT, and will be sold to the highest bidder. Good Luck, and HAPPY BIDDING!!!
