"BUY IT NOW" includes SHIPPING ANYWHERE IN THE CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES!!! 1966 Mustang Hardtop. This car was built in San Jose California, originally delivered to a dealer in San Jose and stayed in San Jose until around 2007). The car sat in a garage until recently when I got it. VIN: 6 (1966) R (San Jose Built) 07 (Hardtop) C (v8 289 2bbl) 1218xx (consecutive number). Data plate: 65B = Luxury Hardtop (pony interior) Z = Sauterne Gold F8 = Palomino/ ivy interior 19K = October 19, 1965 scheduled build date 72 = DSO San Jose (area delivered to dealer) 6 = Axle 2:80 ratio 6 = Transmission C4 Automatic Up for auction is a 1966 Mustang Hardtop. Originially sold in late 1965 in San Jose, California she wears the same BLACK and YELLOW license plates she left the dealership with when sold new! CLEAR California title (previous owner says it was non-opped for California buyers)! The body is EXTREMELY solid. I am reluctant to say "RUST FREE"... because the car is almost 50 years old. But, I have NOT found any rust through (except one small corner of the battery tray). I pulled the carpet up and photographed the floors (they wear most of the original gold overspray and have some light rust staining and some minor surface rust/ pitting). I scraped around and did not find any rust through at all. The trunk is like brand new with no rust whatsoever. The rockers are solid (mostly wearing original gold paint) and both rear quarter panels have the drain holes (from the inside they do not appear to have any rust damage or repair). Floors are greasy and dirty but wear the original Red Primer overspray! All of the glass is good and shows little to no damage or age. All 4 windows roll up and down easily, both doors open and close nicely. The body is straight with a VERY POOR respray over the original paint job. The PONY interior looks very original but needs some help. It is all there and is NOT shredded. The trim plate on the driver's door states: 65B which indicates LUXURY trim (pony interior). The headliner is stained but intact. The front seats have split seams on the bottom, but otherwise are in pretty good shape for being almost 50 years old. The back seat is discolored, but no major rips or damage. The rear side panels and door panels are there and in decent original shape. The carpet may have been replaced at some point, but is VERY faded over the center hump. The original seat belts are there in decent shape and work. Someone could EASILY use the interior AS IS for a while until full restoration. The BAD: The original steering wheel was changed to an aftermarket type. And, the dash WAS CUT for a stereo. I will include a reproduction steel repair panel to restore the dash. The dash pad isn't too bad, but has a carpeted cover on it. Also included: what appear to be the ORIGINAL FoMoCo "Pony" rubber floor mats! They are stained and old...but might clean up! And, both original keys are included (Ford "V" ignition key and "Horse and Corral" trunk key). BRAND NEW PONY INTERIOR IS AVAILABLE HERE ON EBAY FOR $899. The chrome trim, bumpers, etc all look pretty good. They should clean up for the time being, or can be rechromed/ replaced. The passenger side tail light is cracked. She runs good. There have been some modifications. The intake was upgraded to an Edelbrock 4bbl with a new 4 bbl carb. Other modifications are: Headers, Edelbrock valve covers and a Moroso Chrome open element air filter and an MSD ignition. Otherwise, the drivetrain looks stock and original. The Wheels have been upgraded with an aftermarket type, tires are pretty new. Original steel rims are pretty easy to come by. If you are worried about it, I could source an original set of steel wheels and hubcaps for extra money $$. The car runs smooth and sounds good with dual exhaust. Brakes stop as well as expected (original 4 wheel drum), and the car steers and handles good. She also has a few out of the ordinary cool "accessories".... there is a "Hazard light" switch in the glove box that could be factory or dealer installed, and a trunk courtesy light with a jamb switch (so it comes on when you open the trunk). It's all there but does not work (haven't messed with it). This Mustang also has the original rocker mouldings. Overall this is a PERFECT candidate for restoration. It is a DELUXE hardtop with a V8 and pony interior. If you are interested in 100% Original, the Sauterne Gold color is relatively RARE by production and you won't see very many at the car shows! MOST IMPORTANTLY --You WON'T have to spend THOUSANDS of $$$$ replacing floors, 1/4 panels, rockers with welding and metal fabrication. (Mustangs are VERY PRONE to rust). Strip this car down and respray...then drive AS IS or completely strip the car and restore for a "Brand New 1966 Mustang"!!!! The car is NOT TAKEN APART. I pulled the carpet up to photograph the floors. I put the carpet back down and everything back as it was. BUYER TO PICK UP CAR IN PERSON OR ARRANGE SHIPPING AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE UNLESS YOU DO "BUY IT NOW". I will help in any way I can to help load the car, coordinate pick up and help point you in the right direction for parts and resources. CAR IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS. Thanks! http://www.flickr.com/photos/87686401@N04/8149455955/in/photostream/ On Nov-19-12 at 09:26:59 PST, seller added the following information: I have had a lot of questions..... CLEAR TITLE MATCHES THE VIN. Original 1966 Black and Yellow California License Plates match the title. From what I understand, the car sat in a garage in San Jose for a long time until the previous owner bought in in the 90's... he had it painted what appears to have been Tahoe Turquoise and drove it daily. He stopped driving it 6+ years ago and it sat in a garage until I bought it. The car runs pretty good. I assume that the engine is the original 289, runs strong doesn't smoke. I have taken it on a 20 mile round trip and she doesn't like to idle until warmed up (manual choke carb with the choke wired 1/2 way--should have a manual choke cable installed inside the car ). Tri-Y headers and dual exhaust are fairly new. Exhaust is a little loud and should be extended all the way out the back (mufflers dump under the back seat. The steering is pretty tight and 4 wheel manual drum brakes work as expected. Mechanically she seems pretty good... but the car is almost 50 years old....so expect some sorting. Wipers work. Brake lights, Tail lights, Turn signals, Headlights, floor shift indicator.....all seem to work fine. Dome light and dash lights do not work and I have not looked into it. The dash was cut for a stereo (very common) but I have a replacement sheet metal panel to restore the dash. The original steering wheel was gone when I got the car. Original deluxe wheels are available reproduction as well as Shelby style wood wheels. I have had the car a short time and decided to sell (too many old cars, not enough time). The body is straight and my body man is excited to paint this one (no rust repair, very little bodywork, nice body gaps) if it doesn't sell. Mustangs are VERY cheap to restore and nearly every nut, bolt, screw and piece of trim is available aftermarket. The shipper that I use can ship the car fairly quickly anywhere in the Continental US. I WILL PAY FOR SHIPPING IF SOMEONE DOES "BUY IT NOW". LOTS OF PHOTOS ON FLICKR: http://www.flickr.com/photos/87686401@N04/8162053175/in/photostream/lightbox/
