You NEED a car. Cheap. Reliable. Worthy but not too nice. Your search stops here. I'd be lying if I said this was the nicest S40s I've sold recently. Mechanically?? Excellent. Visually??? Ehhh....not so much. One of those 10 footers...looks good from 10 feet away! Seriously, I'm catering this car to someone that NEEDS a reliable driver that they will actual enjoy driving while saving a buck in the process. NO RESERVE! So...the exterior definitely has seen better days. Mild fading in certain areas, mostly up front on the nose of the hood. Some minor clearcoat flaking (see pic below). Needless to say, the car has had repainting on portions, yet altho I'm no bodyman, I don't see remnants of major repairs. I'm pretty sure Volvo's red paint wasn't the best as nearly EVERY Red car I've sold always had some flaking or fading. At least someone tried to keep the car looking nice! "A" for effort! Amazingly aside from the typical hood rockchips and bumper cover biffs, the car really only has a handful of dings, a few small rust bubbles and only one fist sized dent on the rear that is nearly unnoticable until I point it out to you (see pics below). Below you can see chips and bumper cover scuffs, but no cracks or holes or busted plastics. Exterior lighting works as it should. Light fading and scuffing on the vinyl. Front matching tires have about 50% tread left. Rears are different brands sporting the same tread. All ride on clean vibration free rims. Paint shines nicely but could still use a professional detail to remove some of the fade and scratches. Or just leave it and drive! Below you can see the small rust bubble. I have no idea why, but this is very very common spot on ALL the S40/V40 lineup, yet the rest of the car doesn't suffer with the exception of the front fenders directly behind the front tires. Clearly from the splash/rocks without having any mudflaps. Which....this car barely has any damage there either. If I remember correctly, the power antenna works! At least the stations come in nicely. Rear bumper cover has seen way better days, again, no cracks or damages at least. I tried to catch the right angle to show the fist sized dent, at the tips of my fingers. It can probably be pushed out from inside. I didn't even try. Above you can see the minor clearcoat flake atop the fender. Interior is much easier to appreciate. About the only thing noticable right away is the wear on the steering wheel. Nothing a thin leather wheel cover can't make justlikenew2u! Cloth seating is very very comfortable. No holes or damages with only a few minor cleanable stains to be seen. ALL power items work as they should: power locks, windows, cruise, AM/FM/CD radio, transmission modes, mirrors, ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING, climate control, etc. Plenty nice for a daily driver or teen first car! Above and below you can see ALL of the dummy lights illuminate upon startup with only the airbag light staying on during run. Sorry but I do not have the proper diagnosis machine to see the culprit. I would suspect a bad sensor since this is common for the S40 lineup. Obviously the low fuel light works properly! Complete spare tire setup is intact and ready for ANY roadtrip you throw at it! As you can see, the interior is otherwise super clean. Only missing the center armrest, there are plenty more years to go on this low miler! FINALLY!! The "mechanicals" that are superb on this car!! Here we go....NEW front struts, upper mounts AND coils. Suspension is noise free....no rattles, no squeaks, no pops. Car drives decently straight with no excessive pulling or wandering. CV joints/boots are great. Recent strong battery easily starts the perfectly running engine. Tiny bit of noise coming from the alternator, nothing bad like charging failure....Just a bit of bearing noise...seems to be original. Spark plugs are new Platinums. Air filter is clean. Timing belt shows proper servicing and altho I can't say specifically when it was changed, there is EASILY 30k miles left before you will need to address another change. From my experience and estimations, it was done at the proper 70-90k interval. Definitely NOT the original belt. ALL fluids are clean. I just got them in and I will be installing NEW front and rear motor mounts. It's typical for these to dryrot and cause vibrations. The car will be nice and smooth! Turbo operates perfectly. Transmission shifts as it should with zero issues. Exhaust is quiet. Brakes are very strong, easily throw you thru the dashboard if needed and a pulse/vibration free. No signs of any major oil or coolant leaks. No overheating. No spots on my shop floor overnight. INSPECT my excellent feedbacks. BID, BUY, and DRIVE ANYWHERE with 100% CONFIDENCE!
