1926 Buick Standard Six Two Door Sedan Documented by its Original Title and Sales Order - Most Recently out of 30 Years in Melvin Hershey's Collection Sold New In Rehrersburg, PA to a man in Lebanon, PA - Removed from a Lebanon Collection Last March One Repaint - Original Interior, Engine, Drivetrain, Top & Sunvisor - No Rust or Wood Rot Restore or Enjoy As Is! Please Wait for all Pictures to Load! Amazing Survivor Buick! This incredible car, now almost 87 years young, has never been restored and is an amazing survivor from a bygone era. Finished in its original color scheme (as best as I can determine) and sporting a largely-intact original interior, the car has only been repainted perhaps once. The bumper, lamp and radiator nickel was redone years ago and shines well with only minor loss to the radiator shell. As you can tell, the cowl and head lights shine brightly! On the windshield, a 1981 PA inspection sticker documents the last time this car was on the road prior to going into Melvin Hershey's collection of unusual unrestored cars. Melvin was a distant cousin of Milton, the founder of Hershey, PA. While somewhat larger than a Ford Model A, the 207 cubic-inch overhead-valve inline six cylinder engine produced 60 hp when new, propelling this 'Doctor's Car' along a lot more energetically than any four-cylinder Ford or Chevrolet made in the 1920s. The gas tank got cleaned out recently. The gauge on the tank still works - amazing! As you can tell, the wheels were redone possibly more recently and apart from a few chips are in show-quality condition with no rot. The wheels wear Lester tires that exhibit lots of tread and very little dry-rot. I left them 'barn fresh' - I've done no detailing to this car! The amazing vinyl top is completely original save for a few minor repairs. Pardon the effect of the flash on this and the following pictures. The interior is a bit threadbare, but is still quite a nice dark brown. Note the original roll-down blinds. I have not attempted to move them! The grab straps and rear compartment carpet are also original to the car. You'll note that the passenger's seat is folded down allowing access to the rear seat. The dash is also original. Note the ashtray and match book holder on the dash, a rare period accessory. Also note the document/glove holder on the right kick panel. The original wood steering wheel is nothing short of amazing. Even the car's original die cut floor mat is original. I have taped the bottom to shore it up a bit. The wooden floor boards underneath are likewise original and as good as the wood in the rest of the car - amazing! The numerals on the odometer have deteriorated and I'm not sure how accurate the thing is either, so assume T.M.U. I had the dash light on in this picture, hence the slight discharge. I cleaned the cutout relay on the generator and made sure it charges properly, which it does! This is stamped in the structural sill wood just inside the passenger door - "FISHER BODY CORP. 34230" The same number on the firewall plate. The original engine runs well. The clutch is quite grabby but will likely free up and work better with some use. I have cleaned the Marvel carburetor a bit and restored the vacuum tank, added an in-line fuel filter under the car and cleaned the fuel filter beneath/after the vacuum tank. The restored Stewart vacuum tank. I completely dismantled, bead blasted, painted et.c. this original part. No surprise, it works great and really wasn't that filthy inside. The right side of the engine. I merely cleaned the ignition points, replaced the starter switch with a new old stock Niehoff part (the old one was worn beyond repair and had been shorting out), replaced the battery and the positive cable (1 gauge heavy cable to the transmission) and voila, she starts and runs every time. The generator was not charging, so I polarized it then removed and cleaned the cut-out inside and out. Again, I've done no surface cleaning and there is plenty of old seepage and crud here. The original Boyce Moto-Meter works well! The car had been running at idle after driving out of the garage. The engine number. The chassis number. The car's original 1926 Pennsylvania title. Note engine and chassis numbers. A newer Pennsylvania title has been acquired but somewhere along the line this was saved and not turned in. The original sales order for the car. Interestingly, this Buick was sold by a Dodge dealer in Rehrersburg. Strangely enough, a friend of mine was a funeral director in Rehrersburg some years ago and I think I know where this little dealership was in this little village just south of I-78. Just an interesting document, particularly as it has remained with this car all these years and in such good condition.payment/shipping Payment is expected in certified funds or by wire transfer no later than seven days following auction close unless otherwise cleared with me prior to placing your bid. I cut it off at the end and then hit a timing lever which made it want to start back up again. She's a good little runner and the clutch has already freed up quite a bit just from a few trips around the neighborhood. Click on this link to view the short clip
