Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is this 1969 Chevy Chevelle project Car. This is a power disk brakes, manual steering car that was originally air conditioned. It had a console at one time and includes bucket seats. It has a 10 bolt rear end and I beleive was a small block car originally. The story behind this car is that it was taken to a shop to be restored, torn apart, and body work (sanding) was started. The owner apparantly ran out of money and the car has sat in that condition for at least 15 years. It has been in dry storage at a Texas body shop. I bought it from them and had to get a new title. It is a clear blue Texas title. I have bought several chevelles that needed restoration and this is the most solid and rust-free one I have owned. The body has some surface rust, but is very solid. It will need a driver's side rear quarterpanel and front fenders. It looks like it was repainted at least once. I am not sure about bodywork that is covered up, but I do not see anything obvious. It appears that it was a 4 speed car or the owner was turning it into one. I have a 4 speed (pictured) that will be included in the auction. The floorboards and trunk have only surface rust. there are a few holes in the floor where someone mounted seats and a console. The windshield pillar bases and the panel behind the rear window (where these usually rust out) are very solid. The car is completely disassembled. I tried to lay out all the pieces so you can see everything. The obvious things that are missing are: an original engine, radiator, Air Conditioning system, driveshaft, gas tank, and door and rear quarter glass, and grille. The windshield is gone, but rear glass is included. The are no interior panels. Look closely at the pictures. There are a lot of items that survived, including a stock points distributor and coil, all kinds of brackets, various trim, and a tilt steering column. The car also has 15" rally wheels with beauty rings and center caps included. Three of the tires do not hold air. The 4 speed that is pictured was rebuilt in 2012 and came out of a friend's car. He decided to change back to an automatic because he is returning his car to original. The winning bidder will also receive a 1969 casting 402 big block (block and crank only). The block has been cleaned and bored .060 over, but not finish honed (it is actually bored .057 over). The crank is polished and ready to assemble. It is a steel std./std. 396/402 crankshaft. I have too many projects and kids in college. This chevelle is a great candidate for restoration. Happy bidding! This car is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the bid at any time. Tis car is sold as-is, where-is. Transportation is the buyers resposibility. I will store it for a short time while the buyer arranges transportation. If you win, please contact me and we will discuss the details.
