This is my 1979 XR500 motocross racer, I have had this bike about 10 years. It has gone through alot of changes over the years. The frame is a stock xr 500 frame modified to use a YZ 465 front end(81). It has a custom built quick change swingarm. I had a motor built but Roger Lester a local icon in the 60's and 70's flat track motors) 3 years ago. Unfortunately it turns out to be the last 591 motor he built. The crank was done by Powroll with a Carrillo rod and a new pin. Weisco 591 racing piston and alot of machine work to the head and bottom end for this setup. Ok, there are a ton of things that have been done. The bottom line is a raced it about 5 times and then took a bad spill on it so it got parked. Here are some of the things that have been put on it. This bike will sleigh 490 Miaco's..lol 1) Wide footpegs 2)591 Weisco piston 3)New crank pin 4)Carrillo Rod 5) All seals(motor) 6) ported polished head 7)Valves and springs 8)Megacycle bearing cam (mid range) 9)Banded clutch and Barns springs 10)38mm Mikuni carb (will handle a 40mm flatslide no problem) 11) Answer handle bars and big bar adapters 12)Progressive shocks 13) Yz 465 frontend(81) best front brakes there are. 14) Scott hand grips exc..exc.. This bike is scary scary faaaaaasst this bike is not for a beginner and is a hand full for a Expert!! This is the ultimate weapon in the Fourstroke class or the GP 500 fourstroke class and it will run with the fastest open class two smokes... I have gotten out of the EVO, post vintage, almost vintage type racing. the motor has less then 3 hrs on it but it did sit for three years. I took it out to a local vintage TT motocross weekend last June (Dino Daze). I let Scott Baker yes of the Baker Brothers Racing GNC national racers and he won all the open TT pro and the Expert motocross races...... faaaassssst!! well it's not a cr, xl, xt, tt, yamaha, suzuki, kawasaka, KTM, flat track, flattrack, dirt track, scrambles, ama, ahrma, vdrnw, 100, 250, 350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600
