Vehicle Detail
Hey Classic Car Lovers! Beautiful 1957 Chevy! This car can be shown as a Cruiser OR Classic Gasser! Car was built for speed (no doubt) but also with the thought of being able to cruise anytime and to attend and win at Car Shows! Let me say right off, that this car isn't perfect.....but MAN what a car! An older frame-off restoration that has been well cared for with a ton of info included with the sale. The paint draws oohs and ahhhs from everybody, but I would rate it only an 8 out of 10, because it has probably a half dozen rock chips (about the size of the head of a pin) and one chip on the passenger door about the size of a small pea. A can of the original paint is included. The chrome is also an 8, there is sugar (although it's hard to see on the pics) on the headlight trim and the taillight housing. The rest of the chrome is beautiful. The stainless trim has one ding on the passenger front fender, the rest is driver quality with minor scratches, but shows well. The interior is definitely "Old School," which gets alot of comments...black and red velvet on the door panels and trunk, black vinyl seats with one small defect. The body is rock solid.....no rattles or squeaks. The weather striping and window fuzzys are good, the glass is good except for some scratches on the inside of the rear glass. This is a heater delete car, which hasn't been a problem as I have always stored the car in winter. The wipers, lights, turnsignals, radio all work properly. The speedometer works, the odometer not! It's stuck on 7 miles.(lucky number!). The engine (more later) is set up to run on either an electric fuel pump or mechanical. The regular gas gauge on the dash doesn't work, but when the electric fuel pump is hooked up, the fuel pressure gauge (in the after-market array) kicks in. Included in the array is amps, water temp, oil pressure, fuel pressure and a non-working fuel level. Sitting proudly on top of the dash is a Auto-Meter Sport Comp Monster Tach. Shifting thru the four gears is sweet by way of the Muncie 4sp and Hurst shifter. It stops good with front disc and rear drum brakes. The exhaust is stainless behind wrapped headers. Tread is good on the Mickey Thompsons, the Cragars look better in the pics than they really are. There is some corrosion (not rust) on the interior of the wheels, but they still show nicely. I know some of the older hot-rodders have heard of the late Ted Borowski. He was responsible for the engine build for this '57. He took a SBC 350 and turned it into a monster! It is Balanced/Blueprinted, 11.5 to 1 compression 202 Fuely Heads, Crane Cam, Pete Jackson Gear Drive, Stainless Valves and Pushrods, Crane Roller Rockers (Tapped-In), 4 bolt main, Billet Flywheel, MSD Ignition, Coil, MSD Rev Limiter, and an Edlebrock 600 cfm carb on a Holley Contender intake. It has an 8 qt.oil pan and a 16 gal. fuel cell filled from the trunk. The rearend is a Chevy 12 bolt with 4:11 gearing. Although it will take your breath away when you stomp on it, it runs smooth enough and cool enough to cruise the town, no problem. You have a choice when you show the car. Pump up the rear air shocks to get that classic stance (by the way, 2 inch drop front coil springs are included if you want the front raked) OR you can drop the rear which gives it a Gasser look, slap on the magnetized decals and the moon racing tank (all included with sale) and enter the Competition Class. It's a winner either way! This '57 is a hot rod that just happens to look really good, it wouldn't take much to raise it to a $50,000.00 dollar ride! Bid with confidence. I'm only selling because I'm 67 and have 4 other classics and a Harley which will all be on Ebay soon. It's time to hit the rocking chair and let you younger folks have the fun. Good luck to all. If you have a question, just ask! Car is located 6 miles north of Anderson, Indiana and is available to be inspected. If you check my feedback you'll see it's great. I sold a Caddy to a guy a couple of years ago and he said I was a great dealer...I'm NOT and never have been a dealer, just a guy that likes classic cars. Car is sold without any warrantee or guarantee, but I would not hesitate to drive anywhere and have done so many times. Shipping if needed to be paid by buyer. A $500.00 non-refundable deposit required in 48 hours from buyer. Cash or Paypal accepted for deposit. Cash or Bank check for balance. On Oct-12-12 at 06:08:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks for all the trade offers, but I'm unloading not reloading. Thanks for the interest! I'm told the pictures do not do justice to the paint job. Just so you know! The "MOON" fuel tank is a dummy, does not hold fuel. Just for show. "Most asked Question".....from 10ft few if any defects are visable? The car isn't perfect, it's not a 40-60 thousand dollar show car. There are small waves in the front fenders. Not interested in overseas buyers. Thanks for all the interest. On Nov-03-12 at 09:16:32 PDT, seller added the following information: See the great questions at the bottom of the page. Thanks to all!
