Vehicle Detail

This is a classic '70s cargo van with a single bench seat (in storage). Interior/exterior is all original. Interior was fully carpeted (shag stapled to underlying plywood – on sides+roof+floor), as was the custom in 1974. Almost all (95%) of the carpeting has been removed. Interior restoration in progress. Michigan vehicle – stored winters (inside). Three prior owners; Purchased new locally in 1974, driven to Mexico City, Mexico from Michigan (and back) 2x. Sold to neighbor in 1999 who licensed the van as an antique for one year. Sold to retired widow who owned the van for one year. I purchased the van from her. Mileage at that time showed 31,000. I subsequently met second owner at antique night (Gilmore Car Museum/MI) who told me mileage was not 131,000 but twice that figure (231,000). Timing chain broke in first month – forcing me to replace original motor with a rebuilt 301 V8 automatic (EBay listing does not allow correct model or motor choice). Since then I've replaced virtually everything in physical plant; brakes, wipers, thermostat, battery, master cylinder and all components that accompany an engine replacement, i.e. alternator, generator, pumps, etc. Brand new tires. Brand new two-tone paint job (original match). Not sure if it's the original transmission? Van has served as my fishing tow vehicle (17' aluminum boat) and has completed 23 round trips to northern MI (30,000 miles on rebuilt motor). She has slight oil pan and differential leaks (since my purchase). My mechanic suggests they are minor repairs (recommends winter-time repair during storage). Slight play in steering. Van gets admired everywhere she goes!!!!!!!! Michigan economy forces sale (I've held off as long as possible, not wanting to let her go). – Thomas PS thanks for your suggestions and questions. This is simply a one of a kind van. I drive it in warm weather and it performs like a dream at 45 mph (cruising back roads). It's not a modern vehicle w modern brakes nor conveniences. It's got the aerodynamics of a brick. Buy it because you love it (as I did) and you will not be dissapointed). I trusted her to take me up north (MI) 23x and back (500 miles round trip each time). If you buy it I'll provide all my repair info and access to my exceptional mechanic. Bid w confidence.
