Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1948 Chevy coupe project. The body is in bare metal with minor modifications. The belt trim and emblem holes have been filled. The door handles and locks have been shaved. Front and rear roll pans have been added. The original bumpers and gravel pans come with the car. The holes for the lower pieces of trim (along the rocker) had been left alone The hood seam has been welded together and the rear wheel wells have been welded to the body. New rear fender skirts also come with the car. New rocker chrome and the original stone guards for the rear wheels are included with the vehicle. The original driveline is in vehicle. The carb. has been removed, however it is included in the sale. I feel comfortable stating that the vehicle ran and drove when parked. I did not intend on re-using the driveline. Chevy v8 bolt in engine mounts can be included in the sale at additional cost. The brakes work and stop the car. All brake lines have been replaced and the wheel cylinders were rebuilt. The exhaust has also been replaced. The suspension is original and has been lowered 2” front and rear with a kit from Chev’s of the 40’s. The filler work had begun on the rear when we decided to sell, the rear plate frame was being recessed in the trunk. After the auction closes I will be willing to discuss pricing for the v8 engine mounts, compete car wiring harness, new blue dot headlights with built in blinkers, electric popper kit for the shaved door handles and a few more items. As you can see from the pictures the body is in great shape. You can’t hide much with bare metal! The only rust repair that has been done was two floor patches. They are located on top of the rocker / under the door and would be covered by the sill plate when the car is finished. The body mount bracket that is located under the repair may need to be replaced, depending on the level of restoration. There is a picture of the particular spot I am referring to. There is No Reserve on this item and it is not for sale locally. Many other Items such as the grill, etc. are also included in the sale of the car. I have the rear window glass and the door glass. The windshield and quarter window glass is missing, but it is flat glass and can be cut. The original seats front and rear also come with the car but they must be rebuilt. I kept them mostly for reference. The original heater is also in the car.
