Vehicle Detail

Vehicle DescriptionIf your a collector (or want to be) of the 1983 VF750F V45 Interceptor, THIS is the one you are looking for! You'll probably never find another ORIGINAL one in this condition. The StoryI always regretted selling the 1983 Interceptor I rode in college. I bought it used in 1985 and have always considered it the sweetest riding bike I have ever owned. I sold it in 1990 and regretted it for 18 years. In 2008 I saw a similar mint blue/white 1983 Interceptor on Ebay and bought it from a guy in Colorado. I've only put 2000 miles on it since then but it was worth every penny. I have had the luxury of having two motorcycles and this Interceptor is my second bike. I ride it on once or twice a month and keep it garaged. I do all the maintenance myself. It rides exactly like the one I owned in the '80s. The horsepower to weight ratio was world class in the day and it can still keep up with any contemporary 750cc bike. Its seating position is slightly more upright than modern sport bikes so you can ride all day with ease. I would keep it forever if not for one thing...my family situation has changed and in my mid 40's I'm a dad for the first time. My lifelong love affair with the motorcycle (I've owned six over the years and have two currently) must take a back seat to my new little girl. I've always accepted the risks associated with riding motorcycles, and so has my wife, but now there is someone else who needs me for the next 21 years or so. Suddenly a modestly risky hobby puts me at odds with my obligation to be here for my daughter. Therefore, I must either sell now or store the bike for 20+ years. Believe me, I seriously considered the storage option, but in the end I just can't justify it. I must sell it. The HistoryI am the third ADULT owner of this Interceptor. This Interceptor is original and just as it was assembled from the crate in 1983. It is not a Re-Paint. What you see in the photos is the actual bike that has not been crashed, abused, modified or had parts swaped out with aftermarket. Even the seat and fuel tank are the originals with NO dents, scrapes, tears, rot cracks, etc. Aside from being ridden over 17K miles, this beauty has not been left sitting or stored outside. The guy I bought it from obtained it by going through the dealership that assembled it new in 1983. They were the ones to service it ever since and did all the Honda updates. The owner of the dealership is the same individual that actually assembled this bike new from the crate and sold it to the original owner. He confirmed that the bike has never been crashed or had any replacement body parts. The cams, cam chain tensioners, and rockers have all been replaced. The cam oiling system has been upgraded. Drive chain and sprockets are in very good condition. Front fork seals were replaced (once by me). Brake calipers and master cylinder have all been rebuilt (once by me). Horn and fuel tank sender are new (new old stock) added by the previous owner. Tires are in fair condition. ALL gauges are clear and fully functional. The cooling fans and temperature sensor switch work flawlessly. Both radiators are clean and keep the engine cool, even in the Texas heat. It has both the original kick stand and center stand on it. All the lights, turn indicators, dash lights work. Basically, everthing that is supposed to be functional on this bike IS fuly functional. I also have the original owners manual, under seat tool kit, parts microfiche slides, '83 sales brochure, and a cover that goes with it. This Interceptor starts right up and runs and rides GREAT! It is currently jetted for sea level with a K&N air filter kit. That means it has 135 mains in it, up for the stock 128s. THERE ARE NOT LEAKS. The FlawsThis is a very nice and well kept original Interceptor, but we can't forget it was assembled 29 years ago and HAS been ridden off and on during that time (17K miles). Even though it hasn't been dropped it does have some scrapes on both sides of the header collector that's on the bottom of the bike. I believe the previous owner when he says these are from scrapping curbs. Again, these are on the exhaust headers UNDERNEATH the bike and are not visible unless you look under the bike. You don't normally see the bottom of the collector so I didn't do anything about it, but new Interceptor header collectors are still available. Either way, it needs to be mentioned. There is also a small horizontal crack in the rear seat fairing just above the left turn signal post. It is barely visible in the photo since it is only 1/2" long, but it is there and has been for a long time. I didn't try to fix it and don't see any need to given how small and insignificant it is. There is a small nick about 1/4" in diameter on the front of the right side engine case. You can see it in the photo of that area. It is an easy touch up. That's it! There aren't even the common chips and scrapes on the back of the fuel tank or scuff marks on the side panels. Just some VERY minor hairline scratches and/or abrasions that would be expected but I can't get them to show up in the photos. What you may think you see in the tank or elsewhere are actually reflections of clouds. If you have any questions, by all means ASK before you bid so we can both be happy with this deal. The RulesI reserve the right to end the auction any time before the last 24 hours if I have a confirmed sale through a local listing. If I don't like your feedback history you are out of the game. SINCE THIS INTERCEPTOR IS 29 YEARS OLD AND CONSIDERED A COLLECTORS ITEM, IT IS BEING SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. A FEW POPULAR QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS: Do I have a buy it now in this listing? Yes...$4500. Will I take a trade? No Will I end the auction early just for you and your "offer"? No Is this bike an antique? It is a classic and eligible for antique status (in Texas at least). If you are buying this bike to flog is through rush hour traffic five days a week then you are crazy. This is a special machine that has a place in the annals of motorcycle history and it is my hope that someone who understands and appreciates this fact buys this bike and takes care of it for many years to come. Does your winning bid and non refundable deposit buy you time to decide if you actually want it or can afford it? No If for some reason you come to get it and think I've misrepresented it in any way, you have the option to leave with your balance money. Your deposit does not have the same option. That's why it is called a "non refundable" deposit. Can you come look at it? Yes Will I bring it to you to look at? No Can you take it for a ride before you buy it? No. Will I box it up and ship it to you? No Will I get you quotes for shipping? No Will I hand it over to a "legitimate custom transporter" with your permission and paperwork from my location? Yes Can you come get it right after you win the auction? Yes, and by far the best option. Can your friend come get it for you? Yes, but only if they can prove they're doing it for you and you've confirmed it. Can you ride it home on my current tags and insurance? No. Will I keep it stored for you until you can come get it? Yes, until our agreed upon period is up, then "your" bike and money will both be gone. Will I take a Nigerian third party bank check for over the purchase price and refund your transport agent the balance in cash? Uh, no. THANKS FOR LOOKING, GOOD LUCK, AND HAPPY BIDDING!!!
