Vehicle Detail
This is a very original 1971 Fiat 850 Berlina, or sedan, and one of the last sold in America before the model was replaced by the 128 in 1972. The Fiat has been in storage for many years and is exceptionaly original and, I believe, 100% complete. It is a project, with rust on the drivers side, so please look closely at the pictures and feel free to ask questions. Mechanicals- The car is original, it still has the 817cc engine that it came from Fiat with, it turns over, but I have not attempted to start it, and I'm sure the fuel system will need to be gone through. 4spd box moves easily in all gears, the car rolls easily, and as you would expect, it will need a hydraulic system rebuild to the 4 wheel drum brakes. Electrical system is intact, nothing missing, full set of keys. The wheels are 13" from the 850 Spider, (front), and 124 Spider, (rear). Tires are Michelin X, and date from the mid 1970's, fine to roll it around on, but well past the sell by date! Body Condition- I would say the paint is original and the car has never been in any significant accident. At some point it must have been sitting at an angle and water gathered along the drivers side, as that is the only place that rot has set in. The outer sill is shot, but a new one is included. The floor under the sill at the front drivers side needs a patch and the lower wheel arch will be needing welding. Doors close just fine, no sag, the "A" post's are fine. The front nose has started to rust at the top right corner, (again, a new one is also provided), and the normal spare wheel well rust is present. Amazinging, the battery box has no rust. The passenger side is fine and the floors are good, other than the noted drivers side front. All the glass, locks, opening vent windows, and window winders are in fine shape. Chrome bumpers are straight with very good, but not perfect, chrome. Interior Condition- I saved the best for last! Stunningly original and in great condition. The seats are flawless, front and rear. All the rubber mats are in place and in great condition, front and rear, price those, if you can find them, they are very expensive. The door trim panels are free of damage, front and rear, as is rear parcel shelf and the back side of the folding rear seat. All three sunvisors, (that is not a typo), are in place and in good shape. The dash pad has no damage, center floor console also, and it still has the original rear view mirror with the built in map lamp. All three ashtrays are nice, along with the original Fiat seat belts. The lower cardboard dash is also very nice, no damage, but needs to be re-installed. The interior is right out of the brochure, which is so rare these days. In conclusion, this is a great start for a restoration project as knowone has messed about with it before you. Being as complete as it is, and with two major NOS panels included, if you or a friend can weld you will be in fine shape. It is too good to just part out. I do have the ability to deliver within a reasonable distance, ask for a quote before you bid, and the first 100 miles from Nashville, TN are on me. Clean title in hand, no reserve, thanks.
