Vehicle Detail
You're looking at a 1992 Oldsmobile Achieva SCX with only ~67k original miles. A great candidate for autocross/scca racing or just a fun daily driver, as I used it. For those that don't know about the SCX, there were only 1143 produced in 1992 with another 500 produced in 1993. They are NOT your standard Achieva. Features included a computer controlled ride (CCR), which allows you to change the ride from a stiff sports-car like feel to a floaty "boat" style luxury feel, all with the touch of a button while driving. (This still works fine on my vehicle, I should note.) W41 cams that provided extra horsepower over the standard Quad 4 H.O. edition, giving the Achieva SCX a total of 190 stock HP on it's ~3100 lb frame, all while still allowing highway mpg figures over 30 mpg. It also featured a getrag 5-speed transmission with a final ratio of 3.94:1, allowing for a little more top-end speed in that 5th gear, should you feel like really revving her up. The car itself is badged as the SCX and has "w41" logos on it as well as a nice silver pinstripe. As you can see from the pics, this 1992 has been well cared for and still shines with the best of them. It isn't perfect, but it looks pretty fantastic. Pics were taken 4 days before this posting. The Good: A/C blows ice cold, CCR works, Engine runs great, no check engine light, etc. Car has only seen premium gas for the duration of its existence. Up until 31k, she was a trophy winner/show car. I have used it as a somewhat daily driver, alternating between it and my Taurus. Interior is very clean, I don't think more than 3 people have ever even sat in the backseat, lol. Trunk interior is clean. Spare is still in there, etc. Transmission and clutch are perfect. Engine bay is very clean. Cold-air intake/cone filter and conical oil filter have been installed.. these are the ONLY modifications to this car and make it sound VERY mean when you rev it up. Cruise control works fine, as well. The bad: The parking brake cable snapped a few years back.. never needed it, so I didn't bother. This causes the parking brake light to stay on. Same thing happened to the trunk latch. The key works just fine to open it. The oil sensor is flaky (could just be the gauge - has no impact on the car itself and was actually the exact same on my 1993 Achieva SCX, but should be noted.). The rear tires could be replaced, fronts have already been replaced. And finally, I removed the ABS unit out of personal preference (the original works and is included with the car), but I hooked two of the lines up in the wrong order on the non-abs unit, meaning that the car is braking slightly to the right under really heavy pressure. This is a cheap and simple fix. Also, at one point someone backed into the passenger side. Most of the damage was under the plastic trim, which somehow came out unscathed. I had a friend pull most of the dent out and it is hardly noticeable, but I wanted to make sure it was mentioned. You can see everything in the pics :) Please call 630-781-1605 with any questions. This is a good car and well worth the asking price. As with any used car, it is sold "as-is" and in the current condition. I've tried to be as accurate as possible, but I always recommend checking a car out in person before buying, if at all possible. Thanks!
