Vehicle Detail
Own a piece of British motorcar history with this 1963 Spitfire4 Mk1! I purchased this vehicle last year with the intent on finishing the cosmetic touches to bring this car back to it's original glory. Time on other projects have hindered this from taking place, so now I need to move it along to someone else that can enjoy this nice ride. Engine starts, runs and drives very well. Has just under 30k original miles and has been garaged for most of the past 30 years. It is equipped with a 4 cyl. engine which is fed by dual SU carburaters and a manual 4 speed transmission. Runs surprisingly well for a 4-speed, hitting 75mph easily. This car has no rust, but there are a few areas where paint has been chipped from driving. Over all paint is good. This car has: -new windshield, -new carpet, -new seat belts, -new hydraulic brake components, -new springs and new hoses. Rocker panels have been replaced and 1 small floor pan spot repaired prior to undercoating. All questions happily answered.Car starts right up. Here's a quick video of the engine running: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HjGRp31QrgMore pictures located here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/705774mgg41tmhi/0GRogPEDsEYou'll notice from the pictures that the car only has one seat. I have the matching seat covers and rail from the second seat, which of course I will include. The actual seat frame was broken when I got her, and is unfortunately beyond repair. Replacement seats frames can be had from Moss Motors, Victoria British, or of course ebay :)I also have two "Spitfire4" replacement emblems for the back of the car (sorry about not having those on for the photos). Car comes with a full set of extra wheels (that's TWO sets of FIVE rims/tires, and all 5 matching correct hubcaps)."Spitfire4" confusion: This is a first-edition Spitfire, which began production the previous year (1962), which is why this is an MK1. Triumph called it a Spitfire4 because it's a 4 cylinder car, hoping to avoid confusion with the (now very very rare) 6 cylinder GT6 in following years. Unfortunately the Spitfire remained a popular car, and became quite confusing when the Spitfire MK4 was released many years later.I'm happy to show the car if you'd like. I'm located in Berkeley, CA.$500 deposit due 24 hours after auction end.Full payment due NOT via Paypal within 7 days.Car can be delivered within 60 miles for free, otherwise shipping is up to the buyer (it's really easy to get a car shipped from Berkeley :)Girlfriend not included with car. Non-negotiable.On Oct-17-12 at 11:04:21 PDT, seller added the following information:Added new photos to the Dropbox link with the front bumper rail attached, which will come with the car, huge stack of documentation for the entire history of the car, and jack kit. Car also comes with FOUR full sets of keys! Here's a video of me driving the car - starting up, moving through the gears, and going 80 on the freeway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQwGRe0d4j0 Beautiful top-down California day thanks to our October summer :)
