Vehicle Detail

This is my 1972 Javelin/AMX. I bought this car with the idea of keeping it for a very long time. Unfortunately, I now have to sell it to pay for a new project. I did get to enjoy this car all summer. I have always owned two seater amxs. I was really surprised at how smooth the ride of these cars are with superb handling. I found this car in North Texas. It was part of a settled estate. The girl who owned it had inherited from her uncle about 5 years ago. It sat in covered storage until I got it. I picked it up, cleaned the gas tank, rebuilt the brakes and put a starter on it. I fired the engine up and was really happy when it ran just perfect. The transmission obviously has a shift kit. I hits nice and firm in all gears. It does have a 401 engine with a 727 transmission. The engine sounds great and has a lot of power. There are no funny noises whatsoever. The air conditioning blows cold which was really nice when you are driving in 100 plus degree heat here in Texas. It does have an aftermarket Carter performance carburetor and a real cold induction ram air system. The hoses you see in the pictures connect through the fender wells and connect to the open vents in the front lower valance. The interior is in great shape. The door panels look great. The dash is in really good condition. The shifter feels nice and tight. The headliner is nice. The passenger seat does have the seam ripped where the stitches went. The drivers and back seat look great. The paint was done some years ago. It really has held up well. It shines beautifully. The color is not factory, but everything was matched when it was restored years ago. The door jambs, and under the hood was restored as well. The trunk is in great shape with a space saver spare tire. Although it looks perfect in the pictures, it does have some minor flaws. There are some minor cracks in the fiberglass hood, some very small dents, and some very small rust bubbles behind the rear tire on the passenger side (about the size of a nickel). It looks great overall, but I don’t want to give the impression that the car is perfect. The speedometer and tach do not work, and the oil guage is not hooked up. The heat guage works, as well as the gas guage. The wheels are factory 15” ralleys with good tires on them. I did restore these wheels. They were in excellent condition to start with (no rust). I sand blasted then powdercoated them inside and out. I will definitely miss this car. It gets attention where ever you take it. The kids at car shows and swap meets have no idea what it is. They tell me they have never seen one before, but they love it. I have every confidence that this car can be driven cross country with no major problems. Please ask any questions you want. If you want additional pictures of something, send me your regular email, and I will do my best to get you what you need. Bid with confidence! You will love this car.On Oct-16-12 at 07:11:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is the Vin for the car.
