Up for auction is a rare 1953 pontiac Sedan Delivery. This came as a Chieftain Deluxe which makes it even rarier since most were the base models and most came with the flat head 6. This one came with the optional straight 8. It also came with the optional peep mirror on the back door and under seat heater and passenger bucket seat. All the moldings in the inside are original. New plywood was added to the floor using the originals for patterns and the correct screws were used to secure back as the original flooring that was installed. On the internet they feel that at the most that 50 were still in existance. I wanted to keep the car original but at the same time giving it a ratrod look. The car was to rare to alter with a late model motor. The car has new battery,master cyclinder,stop light switch,brake lines,fuel lines,water pump,pressure plate and clutch disk. When building this car I bought a 4 door that had less than 50,000 miles and used the motor,visor,skirts,front bumper with the optional wings and grill guard,front seat and other low mileage parts. The motor is quiet and smooth. Transmission shifts smoothly in all gears. The car has been lower 4" with blocks and can be restored to the original height if some one wishes to. The original vin is in place as the original trim tag under the hood. Most of the rust has been repaired. Partial front floors in the front were installed. The car has been painted in the original color but in a flat. I have some extra parts including the 2 original front seats. On Oct-13-12 at 17:16:51 PDT, seller added the following information: The car also comes with a matching spotlight for the passenger side that was never installed . Both spotlights work. This car is not currently license or tagged. Ill leave that to the new owners to do that in there state. Sedan Deliveries had low rear end gears 390s, 410s I believe. Straight 8s are low RPM and high tork. Like any 50s car they are prehistoric to drive and would not be safe to drive on the freeways unless there were some modern up grades. This is a weekend driver to the car shows not basic transportation. For people that need questions answered give me a call.
