Vehicle Detail

1979 HONDA CR 250 ELSINORE I am recently retired, just moved to a smaller place (in Oregon), and must downsize my collection of motorcycles and motorcycle stuff. Up for auction is a 1979 CR 250 Elsinore . I bought this bike 10 years ago. When I bought it, it was a very low hour machine. As evidence, look at the pipe, it is the original pipe, and it only has a couple of light dings, and none in the header where you usually get them from rocks coming off the front wheel—see pictures. The previous owner had the engine rebuilt by a professional mechanic just before my purchasing it—he had the receipts, and you can still see some of the new gaskets between the cases. When I got it, I set about working on the rest of the bike. The following is a list of the new parts: Rebuilt Engine New Transmission Bearings New Main Bearings New Engine seals New Clutch Plates New Piston New Ring New Wrist pin New Air Filter New Progressive Shocks New Swing Arm Bearings New DC Plastic Rear Fender Front Fender Side Panels/ Number Plates (Original Front Plate) New Seat Foam New Seat Cover (Custom made with the back panel from original seat having the Honda emblem.) New Fork Seals New Seal Savers New Perches New Shorty Levers New Clutch Cable New Throttle Cable New Silencer (Original Pipe—Nice, Not Perfect) New Chain New Front Sprocket Near New Rear Sprocket New Pirelli Front Tire (still has nipples on knobs) Near New Maxxis Rear Tire (still has nipples on side knobs) The frame, the tank, and the engine were painted to match the DC Plastic. The frame and tank and the bottom end of engine were painted with urethane based auto paint—it will not come off if gas is spilled on it. The tank was not reconditioned nor painted professionally. It is not perfect—it has some imperfections. (Although the imperfections are in the pictures, they are so minor you can’t see them. I know where they are, and I can’t see them.) Nevertheless, it makes an excellent “rider” tank. The bike may not be “show room” or museum quality, but is, all in all, a very nice example. As far as the engine is concerned, it starts easy, usually one or two kicks cold, one kick when it is warm, and it runs clean. The only minor defect is that the lower fork legs could use some buffing. THE BIKE HAS BEEN SITTING IN MY LIVING ROOM FOR MOST OF THE LAST TEN YEARS. I HAVE NEVER RACED THIS BIKE. I HAVE NEVER EVEN RIDDEN THIS BIKE IN THE DIRT—SEE PICTURES. NO TITLE, BILL OF SALE UPON REQUEST. This bike can be raced in Post-Vintage AHRMA races. Look at the pictures carefully. Ask questions. There are no returns. I live in Yamhill, Oregon, which is just a little way from Portland. I would prefer local pick-up. I can help with delivery within 150 miles for the cost of my gas to the delivery point and back home. The buyer is responsible for arranging shipping. I will not crate the bike up.
