Vehicle Detail
Selling a Mercedes 220S 1959 Project car, with 40,891 miles on odometer. (no indication it may be actual mileage!)Matching engine and body numbers. VIN# 180.030-11-9502911Engine # 180.924-11-9500711Car was painted burgundy in the 80's. Not sure what was the original color!interior was all redone with a very high quality Tan leather. The seat are actually in extremely good shape with good soft leather, no tears or scratches and inside springs and padding still in very good shape.Door panels trims and rear seats are in fair condition while the leather shows to be a little dry.All wood trims are accounted for, yet will need to be delaminated and varnished.Soft top frame is complete and little stiff to pull down completely. 6 cylinder engine with 2 carbs all original and complete engine bay, did not try to turn or start the engine.Car was intended to be restored in the 90's and disassembled while all components well bagged and put in dry storage. The body work was started with stripping and priming then project was put on halt and was put in non heated storage for more then a decade.Rust kept doing its work and underbody floors and one side shackle is now rusted out. These matal sheet parts are all available but will require extensive work from an experienced body specialist to do it right.Structural integrity of the car is very good, while doors hang solid to hinges and close smoothly and tightly as expected for a Mercedes.Trunk area very solid with some surface rust on one side. All Chrome parts are there and larger parts such as the bumpers has some pitting and rust, yet a lot of the smaller parts are still looking very nice and straight.Wood trims in dash weathered and delaminated. This PROJECT CAR seem to be complete and worth the effort to restore.Previous owners wanted a updated sound system installed, which was retrofitted in the dash portion of what should be the older type radio and the heart of the system was installed in the trunk area. Pictures should give you a good overall view of this car condition.Yet if any specific pictures are needed, we would be more then happy to oblige.Note that this car rolls freely, with no brakes when comes time to pick up.
