Vehicle Detail

0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false I'm the 4th owner of the bike and had it for a little over a year. I put aproximately 5,000 miles on it in that time. The bike was originally sold in Connecticut, with the original owner putting on 1,700 miles on it in about a year and a half. Owner #2 (also from Connecticut), whom I've spoken with, bought the bike in 1997 and rode the bike for about 16,500 miles before selling it to owner #3 in May 2011. During #2's ownership the original speedometer broke at 11,970 and was replaced with a new unit (the original unit will go with the bike). The bike was bought by owner #3 in May 2011 with 4,659 miles on the new speedometer. Owner #3 is an engineer at the Chrysler Chelsea proving grounds in Ann Arbor, MI and is as meticulous as an OCD engineer can be. Apparently, he has had over 30 airheads over the years and is quite familiar with all aspects of these critters. Just to make sure that I had an easy transition, he went through the entire bike, lubed steering head bearings, splines, changed fork oil, changed engine, tranny and final drive fluids. Owner #3 did have an issue with the original Valeo starter. He replaced it with a new Valeo starter and then rebuilt the original as a spare (which also goes with the bike). I bought the bike in August 2011 with 7,600 miles and put new Annakee III's front and back. The bike was last serviced at 11,915 miles including changing the engine, transmission, final drive fluids, valves adjusted and carbs sync’d. The speedometer now shows 12,869 miles, for a total mileage on the bike at 24,839. The bike has both factory cases (with liners) keyed to the ignition, the original owner's manual, the complete original tool kit, and an original 1995 sales brochure for the "Classic" models. The only modifications have been the stainless steel brake hose, the side stand (still have the original) and the extra luggage rack on which the Givi top case mounts. The Givi case and the GPS mounts will not go with the bike. The original short windscreen and the mounting hardware also go with the bike. The bike comes with two additional Parebellum screens, one 18" (currently mounted) and a 20". I also have numerous new extra parts including fork seals, valve cover gaskets, oil filters and misc. bits & pieces that go with the bike (probably several hundreds dollars wrapped up in a “just in case” kit). The sheepskin seat cover is also included.I have new interests and unfortunately this bike doesn't fit into those plans. It's a great bike and in excellent, well-cared for condition with a documented history. You won't be disappointed!
