This bike is tuned perfectly, maintained exactly with mostly highway miles, never raced - a humming flat twin. For this sale it has been inspected by certified BMW mechanics that have documented everything is in great shape. Engine, final drive, gear box, and brake fluids new, rocker arm assembly/valves adjusted, carbs synchronized, steering head bearings and wheel bearings replaced, the BMW X-laced wheels straight and true. Nothing needs to be done. As the pictures illustrate the bike looks great. It has only minor cosmetic blemishes. The nose has 2 small areas of touch-up paint, and the right cylinder head has some small paint chips. BMW of South Sound warranty-replaced the dash display 8700 miles ago when the speedometer stopped working. Instead of the actual miles, the likewise replaced odometer shows 8700 miles, which is the only way BMW fixes a bad or damaged dash display on any of their current models. I have all of the service records and documentation for this, so when I moved to Colorado and registered it here there were no problems, as would be the case with the buyer in any state. Two insurance claims have been applied to the bike, both occasions fully covered and indemnified so that the bike was fixed completely and returned to original condition. Complete records of these BMW certified fixes are also included and verify complete resolutions. The positioning of the air-intake snorkel is a bit of a BMW design flaw. Water crossing should be done slowly and in nothing too deep. One of the fixes was the result of a water crossing that breached the airbox. The bike was shut-off immediately as the oil pressure light came on, and trucked to the dealership. Nothing like vapor lock occurred as the well-designed BMW crank arm bearing shells did their job perfectly, their soft metal compositions specifically designed to take additional friction in the result of compromised lubrication. This will also happen with low oil (which never happened). The top of the crank arms are the highest-pressure locations in the lubrication system (think the end of a garden hose with your thumb on it) and the bearing shells will compensate as the computer throws the dash code. BMW of South Sound replaced the worn crank arm bearing shells and tested the engine to ensure 100% normal oil pressure and engine operation. The bike starts, idles and shifts perfectly and pulls strong, every gear. The other fix was the result of a crash-bar bender. Low speed impact dented Touratech crash-bars and sheared a bolt head. Foothills BMW and Farmer's Insurance fully inspected the bike and provided documentation that no damage was the result to frame, engine or any other part of the bike, just the bars doing their job. Another minor BMW design flaw was the stock battery did not have the cold-cranking amperage for the large 1200cc engine. BMW did this for weight savings. Overtime the inadequate stock battery taxed the starter motor. After replacing a failing starter motor, a larger battery with proper tending resolved this. The legendary HP2 Enduro. The bike has an incredible note http://youtu.be/yGLkYws65yo
