Vehicle Detail

SUMMARY: Here is a very rare and high-performance modified 1967 AMC Marlin fastback coupe, with just 2,545 Marlins produced on this one-year body style, making it the lowest-production AMC model ever made. When was the last time you saw a 67 Marlin? HISTORY: This particular car was heavily modified in the 1980s as a street-legal, track-ready screamer. The previous owner is still active in the local AMC performance scene, building high performance AMXs and such, but, this car got pushed to his back-burner over the years, and I purchased it 2 years ago. THE CAR CONDITION TODAY: I have invested $2,800.00 in the car, with itemized detailed receipts, to get it back on the road and running great. The paint and bodywork was done in the 80’s. The bodywork has held up great, the paint presents well from a distance but could use a fresh coat of your choice of color. The color is a funky 80’s 2 tone in earthy copper/tan/brown. The chrome and stainless is complete but could use a good rubbing out. The floorboards and unibody structure are solid. There are a couple spots where the rockers join the floorboards inside the interior that could use some welding touch-up, but, they do not sag or flex at these spots. The hood is customized with an AMC AMX functional hood scoop. The hood uses hold-down pins and because of that does not sit level in photos but the fit is level if adjusted. Glass is very good and has no cracks or chips. Like lots of cars this age, the windshield has seen it’s fair share of road rash over the last 45 years but presents well. Tilt steering wheel, too! Odometer does not work, non-actual miles, displaying 75,000+ miles. HOW DOES IT RUN?: The car is an absolute animal going down the road, maybe the fastest 67 Marlin you’ll find. Stops and turns well too. But, it is not for the faint of heart, and not for people expecting a smooth cruiser ride and creature comforts. That’s why I’m selling it. On one hand, I could work to make it the low-key cruiser I’d prefer…..and spend money de-tuning the wild and fast goodies the previous owner spent money and time putting in…..but I figure, why not sell it now as a great running, wild machine, to someone who is looking for that bad-ass performance in this great-looking and rare 67 AMC Marlin body style. WHAT’S UNDER THE HOOD? Later-model AMC 401 4 barrel V8 from an AMC Matador police interceptor car , with Borg-Warner T-10 4 speed manual stick shift with Hurst shifter, power steering, 3:54 posi rear end from an AMC Rebel Machine, 4 wheel manual drum brakes, factory Magnum 500 painted steel wheels with fresh center caps and beauty rings (not shown in photos.) IN THE LAST TWO YEARS, I HAVE DONE THE FOLLOWING *engine/brake/suspension work by local performance shop Zim’s Carburetor/ Automotive of Akron, includes: Complete rebuild of the 4 barrel carb, new alternator, voltage regulator, starter solenoid, replaced all front and rear brakes pads, wheel cylinders, brake hoses, and brake hardware and adjuster kits, front upper shock mounts, fuel lines near gas tank, brake light switch, turn signal flasher, thermostat, high beam switch, fuel filter, wiper blades. *4 brand new Goodrich Radial TA tires, size 225/70/14 with less than 300 miles, mounted and balanced. *complete custom-bent high performance exhaust, from headers to tips, with dual pipes, turbo mufflers, chrome tips and H-pipe by local custom exhaust guys, Decker Muffler of Akron. *gas tank removed, repaired , black-coated and reinstalled by local radiator/tank specialist (receipts for all of the above) THE INTERIOR NEEDS YOU TO FINISH IT: The interior is rough and needs finished. Headliner is solid and complete and looks good, as is the rear shelf below that huge window. The rear seat is in very good shape and features the original patterned cloth that somebody at AMC thought was swank back in ‘67. The original front buckets are GONE. There are a total of 4 other AMC bucket seats to work with…..2 great tan vinyl seats from a 70’s Matador…..and some rough generic AMC buckets that need padding and upholstery. The tach and horn does NOT work but everything else on the dash does, including dash lights, signals and flashers, wipers….even the factory AMC AM/FM stereo radio works but needs an antenna. The sale includes fresh new custom-cut Stock Interiors carpet set in buckskin plush cut pile, ready for you to install as part of the interior finishing. Door panels and dash pad need reupholstered…..my plan was to get a local upholstery shop to match everything to those super-clean tan bucket seats…..but you do as you choose. MAYBE YOU SAW ONE LIKE IT ON TV?: If you watch the TV show “What’s My Car Worth,” you may have recalled seeing a recent episode where a fully nicely finished version of a 67 Marlin with a similar paint scheme as this car…and the hosts valued the car at $15,000.00+. My eBay reserve is about 1/3 that amount. AND IT COMES WITH EXTRA GOODIES WHEN YOU WIN THE AUCTION!: Lots of goodies, as shown in the photos. Total of 4 bucket seats. 2 complete center consoles, one for manual shift and one for automatic. Extra stock hood. Extra filler panel between the hood and windshield, Extra front bumper to grill filler panel. Car is sold as-is, where-is with no warranties expressed or implied. A $250 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT THROUGH PAYPAL IS REQUIRED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION END. Balance due within 10 days either by certified check or cash. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements. Thanks for looking and happy bidding! I will try to answer your questions quickly and completely via email or at 330-760-1663.
