Vehicle Detail
1988 Mercedes 190E 2.3 with 183451 miles. Very Nice Metallic Black Exterior with Palomino MB-Tex Interior I bought this stunning car in 2000 as a daily commuter. That year we had the car professionally repainted in Lakewood NJ (they did a perfect job). I wanted something safe, economical and classy for myself and I got it. I drove the car for 6 years everyday before I got a new(er) Benz. Then the 190 became my Sunday Driver. I have kept the car in good shape thanks to the help of the shop manuals, see included pictures. And after all these years, I have decided to sell it. Overview 2.3 Liter fuel Injected straight 4 cylinder(M102 series). Automatic Transmission Drivers Side Airbag. I haven't test the Air Conditioning but I am throwing in an extra Compressor and several cans of R12 just in case it doesn't work. Power windows, Power Door Locks, Power Driver's and Passengers Front Seats! Driving Impressions. The car drives like pretty good. It starts first time, and it rides like a Mercedes Benz. Inspection The Car has been inspected in the state of NJ and is good until August of 2014. There is rust by the jacking points underneath but that is all I noticed. There may be more, I don't know. The Body is pretty good with just a few small dings here and there, not bad for an almost 25 year old car. Front and rear bumpers have some minor damage (see the pictures). There are some small scuffs here and there too. Wheels are nice, the Tires are NEW! There is a jack and a spare tire in the trunk I don't know the condition of the spare. The car was in a small fender bender last December but it's all fixed up and the pic of the small cut in the bumper is all that remains. The Original turn signal flashers were replaced with clear, European looking ones. Interior Dash is has cracks (at least 2). The power windows, front and rear are fast and smooth, although the rear drivers side window seems to work intermittently, my guess is a faulty wire, I've tested the window motor and it works fine. The Driver and Passenger 10 way Power seats are fully functional. The edge trim on the doors is coming up and the edge of the headliner in the very front is peeling a little. The Moonroof works fast and smooth, in both tilt and retract. Interior lighting, front and rear work fine. The original cassette radio had been replaced with a quality JVC Arsenal system along with new front and rear speakers and a CD changer in the trunk. Mechanicals I have fixed and replaced too many things to name. For instance, 6 years ago I replaced the head, the timing chain, the belt and a bunch of other stuff. I haven't really driven the car much since then because I got a C230 and this was just the Sunday Driver. I have been a regular member and poster on 190revolution.net Other Details. I have tried to describe the car as best as I can. Where I am aware of an issue I have mentioned it. The service work I have done, was done to the best of my ability, what I couldn't do was done at a shop or at the dealership. The car is almost 25 years old and I cannot offer any warrantee, real or implied. If you have questions, I will be happy to answer them honestly, and if you want more details or picture, ask and I will post them! I reserve the right to end the Auction early for a local buyer.
