Vehicle Detail

For sale is my beloved 2004 V Strom. It is a wonderful bike that my wife and I have enjoyed immensely as we explored the world of dual sport touring. It is in fabulous mechanical condition and just came away from a full throttle body sync and ECM warranty replacement at the local dealer in Billings, Montana. It rides better than ever. I am a mature adult rider and I didn't race this bike around or go bashing through corn fields with it - and neither did the previous owner. He commuted to work on it in Washington. Just to answer the question you are asking in your head, I would not hesitate to ride it home from anywhere in the US. In fact, if you live someplace beautiful, I might be tempted to ride it out to you if the cost would justify it. I live at 82801. Some bike specifics:2004/2005 - depends on who pulls up the VIN. Some databases say '04 some say '05. I think it is a 2004.1000cc - This bike doesn't flinch ever, even with 2 up with all three luggage packs loaded going over a 11,000 ft pass. Effortless power! Smooth as butter.Top case and side cases - you can put 6 helmets in the cases, 2 in each. Givi matching set opens with one key or quick hatch with combo on lock. They are ridiculously huge! Painted to match bike.Factory seat - very comfortable, no rips.Givi crash bars - give it a great look and solid protection. BTW, I modified them at the junction by the oil cooler so they do not vibrate or rattle.Skid plate - for obvious protectionStainless chain guard - looks greatCenter stand - great for greasing the chainFork brace - greatly improves cornering stability and removes fork chatterHandlebar risers - for a relaxed, comfortable rideTemperature strip - indicates when ice is about to form for those mountain climbs and explains why there is ice hanging out of your nose.Modified graphics - removed the stupid looking factory graphics and replaced with a German inspired decal set of 3M black reflective material. Added 3M black reflective tape to side and top cases and strip of silver reflective tape on tank for excellent night visibility.Laminar Windscreen lip - for those of us who are a little tallerMadstad adjustable windshield bracket - to make the air exactly how you want itTires - newer matching Shinko 705 Radials. 80-85% tread left. They look brand new.Power outlet - in case you need to charge something or plug in a 12V air compressor. Mechanical Condition:This bike runs outstanding. Since I have had the bike, I replaced the thermostat because it would have a couple of drips coming out of it and wasn't seated correctly. The temperature never got hot, I just figured if I was going to pull it all apart I ought to replace it while I was in there. As I mentioned above there was a problem with the throttle body sync, but the dealership treated me like royalty and replaced the ECM and sync everything up as a "warranty" item. This fixed the surging and idle instability problem common to all V Stroms. Some guys put a power commander on there, but that usually causes a multitude of other problems, like terrible gas mileage. This bike will do about 43mpg on the highway and about 36mpg climbing in the switchbacks and around town. This last fix has it purring like a kitten. I have left the sprockets alone and haven't farkled it all up. There is a electrical block under the seat with 4 or 5 terminals, I can't remember which, so you can add a bunch of unnecessary things if you like. I will include an extra K&N oil filter, and a mount for Sirius radio (from the previous owner) with the bike. The previous owner told me he had all of the required maintenance done at all of the proper intervals at the dealership he bought it from new. From how it has ridden, I believe him completely. I have oiled the chain, flushed the cooling system out, changed the oil with synthetic blend, and rechecked torque as required in the service manual (included with bike). The brake pads are about 50%, but still work great. No ABS. The newer tires handle soooo great and look manly on the bike. Aesthetic Condition:If you are looking for a bike that was stored in some rich old guys air conditioned penthouse and has never seen rain or temperature under 60 degrees, move on - this is not that bike. It has been ridden. Not abused, just ridden. Take a look at the photos and if you want to see a part of the bike closer up I will photo it and send it to you. The previous owner got his shoe laces caught in the rear brake lever at a stop sign and tipped it over, twice. The result was a little scuff on the right side crash bars and on the side case. He also bent the brake lever in a little, which I think puts it in a better location for my foot. The second time he tipped it over at a stop sign it went left and scratched the other side case. No functionality has changed on the bike, the cases still work perfect, they just have a few scratches on them (look at the photos). Honestly, nobody has ever even mentioned them, not once. There are minor scratches on the tank and around the bike, but nothing major. Overall great bike. Reliable, fun, powerful, and versatile. You won't be disappointed, unless of course you were wanting a Ferrari (coincidentally this bike is as fast as a Ferrari: 0-100 in 6.6 seconds). Why am I selling it? A life-long friend of mine was killed riding right behind me a few weeks ago and I would rather tour the country in a more protected vehicle, and ride bikes off-road - not the bike's fault for sure. You arrange and pay for shipping or pick it up in person, or make it worth my while to ride it out to you. If you want it shipped internationally, that's fine - you work it out - after you've paid me for the bike. No warranty, nothing hidden. Ask any questions you have before you bid. If you need me to check something on the bike, just ask. I hate to say this, but if you are the winning bidder and don't pay the deposit immediately and the rest within 5 days, I will come after you to the fullest extent of the law. If you have less than 5 positive feedback, don't bid - I will retract your bid. Don't recreational bid on this bike - if you aren't serious, move on to another auction. To all you great Ebayers out there, Bid On and may the odds be ever in your favor!
