Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk in solid mostly original condition. Black with tan interior, the engine comes from a 1959 Silver Hawk, 259 3-speed 3-on-the-tree with overdrive, no power steering. Really low miles totaling 1,970. The interior and headliner is in beautiful condition, all original and complete. There is some rust just beginning in the cul-de-sacs of the front fenders otherwise the car is solid. Needs a paint job but still looks great. The car ran and drove last time the battery was charged which was 7 years ago. The car has been sitting ever since under a carport until a few months ago. I inherited this car from my father, who inherited it from my brother...so I don't know much more about it. Unfortunately the people who could tell me more about this car have passed away. I don't know much about cars and don't have the knowledge or resources for a proper restoration so it's time to find someone who does. The car's title is clear and it is tagged and insured. One thing I do know is this car has been previously owned by 2 different Studebaker Drivers Club members. I have lots of photos and there is a story that goes with this car...if you'd like to hear the story or have any other questions, I'll try my best to answer them. I'm offering a buy it now price and setting a low reserve because I need to sell this car before I lose the area I'm storing it at. Shipping/towing is the buyer's responsibility, so local pickup or you set up the shipping. Payment will be accepted through PayPal, Cashier's Check, or cash in person. Thanks for checking out my GT Hawk, I hope we can find a good home for it! On Sep-29-12 at 22:51:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Added Note***** I apologize, I have to correct my earlier statement about how long the car has been sitting. I had forgotten that the last time my Hawk was started and driven was 2 and a half years ago, shortly before my father passed. It was started and driven a short distance of about 2 miles. It was started and/or driven at least yearly until 2002 when it was acquired by my family...since 2002 it's only been driven a maximum of 70 miles. It hasn't been driven on a regular basis in the last 7 years but the engine was started once or twice a year until my father passed away in 2010. The Hawk has been sitting relatively untouched since then. I hope that information helps in some way and please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. I've had a ton of page views and watchers...I wish you luck in bidding!
