Vehicle Detail
Here is my 1994 Ford F-350-XL 4x4 Crew Cab CUMMINS truck. I am starting this auction with a no reserve price of $12,000 That is far less than I even paid for the truck before I even did anything to it. I have closer to $25,000.00 or more in it at this point, so this is really a very reasonable, low starting price, and I would not have considered it not long ago, but circumstances have forced me to sell it so that I can try to get a vehicle for our family, so here is your chance to own a FORD CUMMINS truck. There are some out there , but not very many. This is my favorite body style ford, and it took me a long time to find exactly what I was looking for. This has of course been customized, with the 1998 5.9 liter 12 valve Cummins Bosch p7100 pump motor. Definitely one of the best motors ever put in a pick up. Transmission is the solid NV4500 5 speed. Transfer case is Ford, fit with a cool adapter to mate up perfectly with the NV4500. All Interior (seating) is nice, power driver and passenger, from a newer lariat ford (02-04)? I cant remember what year. Lift is skyjacker, complete all the way to the brake lines. Diamond plate on hood is a cover I made, as it had an 8" hood exhaust stack when initially built prior to my purchasing the truck. Hangers that can be seen under truck frame are mounts for bars that would have been used for sled pulling. I removed those, as they prevented rear suspension travel. I beleive the exhaust is 4" down pipe, and 5" straight out to rear, with 10" tip. Short, straight through summit muffler inline not much bigger diameter than axhaust. Sounds GREAT! I won this truck from an auction about 6 years ago, right here on Ebay, and flew from Trenton where I still reside, to Lubbock TX and drove it home. I had the entire engine build sheet, with dyno hp papers, receipts from the shop who did the engine and most of the build work, etc. But all was lost in our house fire nearly 3 years ago, so I will try to remember some of what was passed on to me at that time. ** Truck was originally built to be a sled truck, but supposedly never got put on the hook. Motor was built to be well over 500 hp (closer to 600) and twin turbo set-up for extremely high boost (seems like 100lbs ?) but in the end had only the S3 super B turbo installed which it has to this day. (will boost about 50lbs +/-) was told the bosch p-7100 pump was completely built too with laser cut delivery valves, when I got it, it had 6000 rpm governor springs (I REMOVED THE 6K GOVERNOR AS SOON AS I GOT THE TRUCK BACK HOME WHEN I PURCHASED IT AND PUT IN A 4500 RPM GOVERNOR) it has had the 4500 rpm spring ever since. The 6k rpm kit will come with the truck if you so desire that kind of performance. AFC arm is removed, and was so when I purchased it. Has a #4 fuel plate. Head was cut and O-ringed, and larger studs. High performance valve springs. Timing was supposed to be 25 or maybe more degrees advanced, for higher rpm power. I have never checked fuel timing on it, so I am not certain what the timing is exactly, but from all the homework I have done over the years, I beleive that it it advanced that far, as it does not have instant boost on low end, and never has. starts making good power over 2000 rpm and really comes to life from there on up in the rpms. highway power is pretty amazing. Will move enough fuel to completely black out the road (completely) and boost over 50 lbs if you full throttle accelerate. Will out accelerate most vehicles on the road with no problem. I have always been very impressed with the amazing amount of power this motor makes, as this truck is quite big and heavy. It is the only cummins I have ever owned, but I am sold on cummins for power, durablity and reliability. Radiator is ford, as is the intercooler. Air conditioner compressor is Ford, I believe. **TRUCK GETS ABOUT 19 MILES PER GALLON IF DRIVEN SENSIBLY** It still looks similar to when I first got it, body wise, but I have done alot to it since then. Just last summer I did alot of things I had been wanting to do to it, spending over $7,000.00 just in parts alone, and doing the work myself. Here is what I have done... * Purchased newer seats, complete set, very nice with both front power seats. front and rear flip down consoles [armrests] - Made it much nicer inside over what was stock seating. *** All of the following has been done in the last 6,000 or so miles, and some have been even more recent. * Put in a brand new southbend double disc clutch, and flywhell-presure plate kit, the newest design they have, with the silencer technology (so it does not have the usual double disc rattle) This clutch is very very nice and should last a very very long time. extremely driveable engagement, very smooth. I could not be happier with this clutch. * Along with the clutch/flywheel kit, I also did the larger imput shaft kit, same size shaft as the newer 6 speed. I purchased this as a full kit, parts balanced and matched. * While I had the trans out, I replaced everything inside except the main shaft. 3rd gear had some chipping, so I replaced every gear, sinronizer, and bearings, and counter-shaft, seals, gaskets, everything but the main shaft. ** I did the 5th gear fix too. the new 3 piece washer and nut lock kit. * Did away with the mopar fuel filter system and Installed a massive high flow heated fuel filter system. (heats with engine coolant lines, like heater core hoses. I have not installed the heater lines as I have not needed it, but can be done very easily) Fuel filters are only about $10.00 for it now as opposed to $40.00 for the stock dodge filters, and last for a very long time. (you can see it in the pics) * All new steering system, tie rods, drag link, pitman, and steering gear box and hoses. (pump was only thing not replaced) * All new upper and lower ball-joints. * All new inner and outer front hub bearings. * New brake pads front and rear. * New Mickey Thompson 325 - 75 - R16 tires. Tires now only have about 3,000 miles on them and are still like new. * New lift pump (primer) * New carrier bearing in drive-line. * New starter * New Battery Keep in mind this is a 1994, and so has signs of age and wear, but is far, far above average for 1994 of this body style. IT DOES NOT, AND HAS NOT HAD any body rust, ever. (That was important to me when I was searching for a Ford Cummins in this body, and so I have kept it off of the roads in any bad winter weather) There are small door dings, and several small scratches, as can be seen in the pics, but again... far straighter than most all of this year out there, and any blemmishes on this truck can be easily touched up. I have not been hard on it, abused it, or off roaded it, and it has stayed pretty nice because of this. Truck has been very good and reliable, and I intended to keep it and keep making it better, but am needing to get my wife a vehicle as hers has finally died, and my truck is not practical for us and the children, being our only vehicle now. It is my daily driver, and really has become the only thing I can part with to assist in getting another family vehicle. This is the ONLY reason I am selling my truck. The bad: * Has normal wear and signs of age as mentioned, has (1) broken cab marker light lens on the roof. (light still works but half of lens is gone, easy fix - would have fixed it, but they do not sell these at parts stores I could find. will either be a salvage yard part, or order an aftermaket set online $30-50 for set) here on ebay. * I had always intended to sound proof the cab better, to quiet it down inside. Its not terrible, but always intended to have it soundproofed. The truck was originally gas when new, so I think thats why it leaves something to be desired when it comes to sound proofing. Baja claws nearly 40" tall clearly hum on the highway. * The fuel tanks are rigged so that when you put the switch in the "front" tank position, it has a pump that pumps from the front tank into the rear tank, re-filling the rear tank. The cummins pulls out of rear tank only, and that is how it was done when I got it- I have never needed to change that set up, and I pretty much only use the rear tank anyway. * The pyrometer (EGT) gauge has not worked for about a year now, and I beleive it must be a ground issue or something similar, It had never getten hot before so I have not worried enough to look into it very far. * The tach on the dash works with the cummins, as the stock in-dash ford tach was for the gas engine- it can be made to work, to my understanding, with a kit. again, I have just never seen the need for it as the other works just fine. * The parking brake is also new (cables) but just needs adjusted or something. (I may be able to fix this during auction) Also, for some reason I have not figured out, sometimes It takes fuel slow through the fuel neck, when filling up at station - again, I have not figured out exactly why, but Im sure its an easy fix, and hasnt bothered me enough to fix it yet. **(all these are only minor issues that have been too small for me to get to so far and has not hindered my use of the truck) I am sure there is good and bad I have forgetten, so please do not hesitate to ask any questions, and I will also update this description as necessary. I am located in Trenton, Missouri 64683 - I can meet buyer at kansas city international airport with the truck, if buyer would prefer to fly in to get it. I see no issues with driving it anywhere, I drive it every day, and have taken it on alot of long trips over the years. We took it on vacation this summer about 5 hours away, and back with our small boat. It did very well as always. -- If you want to have the truck shipped, I will assist in meeting, and loading for shippment and be as much help as I can for the buyer and shipper. **Any potential bidders are more than welcome to come and see/drive the truck if you like. Also, feel free to call if you like. Tad & Jeanie Griffin Cell# 660-635-0581 Home# 660-359-6930 NOTE: Something else I wanted to mention... in the pictures if you look closely, you can see that the front drive shaft was not in the truck. I was having a u-joint replaced in the drive shaft, and I put the shaft back in the truck the next day. ** Mileage at time of listing is correct, but keep in mind it will increase slightly as I use the truck daily. ** I have also put 'for sale' signs on the truck, and so it is also for sale locally. I will end auction if it should sell before auction ends. I know this description seems long, but I am just trying to cover everything I can think of. Ebay will only let me upload 24 pics so I am going to add a link here to my photo album on photobucket. http://s151.photobucket.com/albums/s144/tadgriffin/1994%20ford/
