Vehicle Detail
1978 MGB Convertible. This is a project car that just came out of storage after 18 years. White with black interior and black convertible top, 80,412 miles that is believed to be actual but I do not have any documentation to back that up. 4 cylinder 4 speed manual transmission and power front disc brakes. To be 34 years old, I would say the overall condition of the car is good and very restorable. Both the windshield and door glass are very nice . The convertible top has several holes in it and is trash. There is a tonneau cover and a top boot that that are there but there use is questionable. The interior is starting to show its age, there are a couple small holes in the drivers seat, the dash pad has a crack, and the carpets are worn out. The passenger seat and the door panels are decent. The dash looks good, all of the guages are in their place and the original radio has been replaced with a Sony AM/FM stereo cassette player. The body is very straight, the car had a repaint in the early 90's, but that paint is starting to show is age. There is rust forming in the lower right fender. The chrome trim strips on the side of the body are missing. The trunk floor is brown, but is srtill very solid. Overall the belly of the car is very solid, but there is some rust forming on the front outer portion of the front pans. The car is still wearing it's factory rally wheels with trim rings and centers, and the tires have decent tread and will still hold air. There is a chrome luggage rack on the deck lid. The last time this car was licenced and on the road was 1994 and shortly after that it went into storage. The car is currently not drivable and will have to be towed or hauled to it's new home. The brake pedal goes to the floor and there is no pressure on the clutch pedal. The engine will turn over by hand and is not siezed up. There has been no attempt to start the car since out of storage due to fuel issues because I am sure it was parked with fuel in it. I have tried to describe this old MG to the best of my abilty, but have probably missed something that you would like to know, if so just ask. If you would like to inspect the car in person prior to the end of the auction, again just ask and arrangements will be made. The car comes with a good Missouri title in my name. If you have been looking for an MGB to either restore back to original or do a V8 conversion and build a monster then this may be the one. It is my understanding that the post 1976 models are the best for the V8 conversion because of the larger engine bay. Thanks for looking, and if you are interested good luck in the bidding, the reserve is set very reasonable for what this car is and the winning bidder will not be disappointed.
