ALLOW TIME to load Video & 70 photos Description can be found below the PHOTOS. My name is Michael Chance and my “PHONE NUMBER” is “embedded” in the last PHOTO BELOW. Please READ the entire description & review all PHOTOS (& Video) before calling me. This will put us in a better position to discuss the vehicle. All eBay feedback from people who have trusted me & purchased a car “from me” through eBay can be read below. I will help you anyway I can in determining if this is the right vehicle for you. Thank you. Purpose built “driver” History This fastback has had only one elderly owner since the restoration. It has only been 5,591 miles since completion. When not being driven, it has been pampered and fussed over and kept in the garage under a car cover. The goal of the restoration was not to make a competition “show car”, but rather a reliable “cross country” touring Mustang with extreme visual appeal ….. goal accomplished! The former owner was a long hauler on the cross country “Hot Rod Power Tour”. With this in mind, the fastback was updated with a 5-Speed and modern Air Conditioning from Classic Auto Air. Both of these critical upgrades make a significant difference in the real world drivability of a 46 year old Mustang. C-code car This is a C-code V8 car with optional Power Steering and manual brakes. In addition to the upgrades listed below, the car has been upgraded with some GT components and some Shelby styling cues to achieve that classic vintage “Mustang Muscle” look we all love. 5-Speed tranny makes a difference If you have ever driven a vintage 4-speed car that got “updated” to a modern 5-speed, you know there is a significant difference between the two. The vast majority of “40 plus year old” 4-speed cars simply do not have a tall enough rear gear to handle 65 to 75mph speeds without high REVs. Although upgrading to a 5-speed is expensive, it is easily worth it if you enjoy long drives, especially highway travel. This car was built for highway travel. This Stang will cruise at 65mph running only 2000RPM versus 3,000RPM or possibly higher if it had a 4-speed. Naturally, the lower RPM means much less wear on the motor, less wear on you and less gas consumption! An original style shifter handle & ball were used to retain the “period look”. Only when you see the gear pattern on the original style ball are you able to tell it’s a 5-speed. The SHIFTs are tight with none of the typical slop common in the old original shifters. COLD modern Air Conditioning The dual AC / heat system in this car is superior in every way to the vintage system, including performance. The system is from Classic Air. I like the fact that there are four vents evenly spaced that provide strong cold air thoughout the cabin. I shot the “test drive video” (above) when it was over 100 degrees outside and I was completely comfortable. Rebuilt motor with low miles The 289 motor pulls strong and sounds great! Please take time to watch the “test drive” VIDEO above. The former owner’s documentation shows the motor to have been REBUILT four years ago with only 5,591 miles logged since that rebuild. The motor was not overbuilt for extreme performance, rather it was built for reliability to stock GT specs with performance enhancements coming from a 4-bbl aluminum intake and free flowing header exhaust. The car has been fully sorted out and can be enjoyed immediately with complete confidence. There are NO issues noted, it is NOT running hot, and I have NOT detected any bad habits of any kind. The drives I have taken have been very rewarding. Everything was in line with my expectations of a reconditioned 66 Mustang. Paint It’s BEAUTIFUL ….. great colors ! The paint has that deeply reflective, high gloss wet look. The paint job was done 8 years ago but looks like it might have been done much more recently. Although there are a few minor flaws commensurate with age and usage, there is nothing that takes away from the over all “eye grabbing” look this car has. While not flawless, it is as nice as any intended driver would need to be. People flock to it where ever it goes and it has been a “multiple award winner” at local shows. I would describe the “color” as a slightly amped up version of the 1967 Mustang dark moss green. I have the paint code in the event touch up paint is ever needed. The light gold Le Mans “stripes” are a perfect color choice to go with the green. Simply put, the car has a very “high impact” vintage muscle look. Interior The interior has been replaced with the correct original components and it looks good. Sound System The car has been updated with a more modern sound system which includes Pioneer speakers that have been tastefully cut into the rear panels. I actually like the way it was done, however, should you prefer box speakers laying in the rear, I can replace the panels for the cost of materials. After market gauges & TACH The former owner preferred to have a more accurate picture of what was going on with the car so he opted for the bolt on/bolt off under dash gauges. Simply put, these gauges give you a much more clear reading than the originals – highly recommended if you are a long hauler. The bottom line is they are easily converted back at any time. TACH ….. The tach is a great thing to have in any manual shift car. The one in this car is mounted on the dash pad, much like it would have been on the 65/66 Shelby’s. It is the correct look in keeping with the high performance theme of the car, however, if you prefer NO tach, I can replace the dash pad for the cost of parts. location / Contact me / about ME It seems as if most sellers on eBay want to make themselves impossible to identify and hard to communicate with – NOT ME. I will help you anyway I can in determining if this is the right vehicle for you. . My name is Michael Chance & my phone number is “embedded” in the LAST PHOTO above. However, there is no such thing as a "PERFECT" vehicle...especially when dealing with vintage vehicles. This is not a new vehicle; it is decades old. Even a restored or partially restored vehicle can and will have flaws and normal wear and tear congruent to its age and/or mileage. This vehicle may have minor dings, scratches (or, other imperfections) and indications of wear and use because it has been used. These services are listed on the internet and can be found in most collector car magazine publications. Of course your personal inspection and scrutiny are suggested and most welcomed. Any and all inspections must occur PRIOR to the end of this eBay listing. The seller has made a diligent effort to accurately describe any known material defects associated with this vehicle.
