1977 Volkswagen Type 2 Bus / Camper / Transporter This classic Bus is being sold to the highest bidder. It was purchased in May this year from ebay on behalf of an English friend, who wanted to travel the West Coast USA. He had done a similar journey many years ago and wanted to repeat the experience. This trip is now over, after successfully completing over 4000 miles in this great old Bus. Before he set off there was some remedial work needed to be done. This included a replacement of fuel lines, fuel filter, oil pressure sender unit and all small bore vacuum lines. On the journey he had the valves adjusted and a set of points needed to be replaced. Overall this Bus is in good solid condition. Bodywork: overall very good, underneath solid, some surface rust around the windscreen, a few minor spots around the body. The typical rust issue is present in the battery bay, although the battery is secure at present, it would benefit from some minor welding. There are a few small dings around the bodywork but nothing unsightly. Paintwork: overall good condition, there are some areas of flaking on the front panel. Wheels and Tyres: plenty of miles left on the Wildcat Radial 195/75R/14 rubber. Engine: 2.0 liter fuel injection. The motor starts and runs well. On the trip it only failed once which needed the distributor points replaced as mentioned above. There can be a little clatter on start up, but this disappears after a short time. Both VW specialists who dealt with it on the trip, said it was fine and fairly typical of these old busses. Electrics/Lights : All working Interior: The cab/cockpit is in great original condition. The rear section is fitted with a split 'rock and roll' bed. Curtains all round and a useful cargo net mounted across the whole roof. As the van does not have a kitchenette, it will come with the equipment that our friend used for his trip (everything lightly used for just under 3 months): Coleman gas cooker. Cooler Box. 2 large storage boxes. Aluminum folding table. Folding chair. It also comes with a fitted roof rack which is not shown in the pics but will be fitted before the sale ends. This van is ready to drive away and would not take much to turn it into a great classic.
