Vehicle Detail

Don't miss this! Here is a classic 67 Mercury Cougar at least 99% restored and ready for you to drive and enjoy. I found this car here in Tucson back in '02 and have enjoyed driving her and restoring her ever since! I am the 4th owner, the first owner had her for 30 years and I have most of the original paperwork and history. The ENGINE: was originally a 2 bbl 289 which has been replaced with a high performance 302 and re-built c4 automatic transmission. Aluminum Edelbrock heads with Scorpion roller rockers, Keith Black pistons, custom cam, Holley 670 carb, headers, dual 2.5" exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. All engine fastener are ARP. Ingition: MSD digital Pro Billet electronic distributor, Taylor plug wires, and so forth. The engine is quite powerful and performs amazing along with the transmission which shifts properly and gives no problems at all. I drive the car on weekends or to cruise in shows, etc..otherwise, it lives in the garage every day and night. Also, new and re-built power steering components, shocks, and front springs which lowered the car 2 inches or so. New Brake Booster and complete 4 wheel brake job with new cylinders and drums where needed. (4 wheel power drum brakes) New lower control arms and all new ball joints, etc. etc... THE INTERIOR : Has been completely re-done in black vinyl. I used 68 year model door panels and 68 mustang seat upholstery to my preference and wasn't too worried about collector quality because this car is a standard, non XR7 or GT. It could easily become a clone of either, I was more interested in driving and enjoying the car. New headliner, carpet and at least 99% of the rubber trims, bumpers and seals have been replaced. A new Ford Autolite windshield and gasket along with new rear window gasket was installed a few months ago. There is also a center console, and Ralley clock that is not original to the car. All window regulators are re-built with new rollers, etc..or new. Again, all new window felt and seals, top and bottom of windows and doors.. The EXTERIOR: The body was 100% rust free, Never any rust anywhere at any time. I repaired a large dent in the passenger quarter panel and then sent the car to be painted. They primered the car with epoxy primer and block sanded the entire car a couple of times before spraying in the custom urethane red base coat and clear coat it has now. The car was originally white with blue-green interior. All mouldings windows, trim, bumbers, etc.. were removed before painting and re-installed after. THE BAD: The headlights and tailights work, but the headlight doors do not open automatically. The vacumn cannisters and all other components are present and seem to hold vacumn, the lines have been removed. The turn signals work, but need attention. No radio or antennae. There is a small leak in the transmission when it is not driven frequently. There is no negative performance issues, just some seal around the shifter linkage that drips. No other drips I know of. The radiator cools the engine to about 195 degrees on all days except the other day in this Tucson heat (100 +) It was creeping over 200. I would recommend a larger radiator to the buyer. New tires will be needed soon. All in All, a very nice head turner that sounds awesome, drives very nice and is a great pleasure to own. I have a reasonable reserve, and will also have the car for sale locally. Please call e-mail me with questions, or call me at 520-282-2357 if you are a serious bidder. I will require a $500 Non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of sale and the remaining can be worked out with me on the phone. Good Luck Bidding!!
