maintained with great cosmetic and recent mechanical care, very original and unmolested condition, full power everywhere as befitting the top of the line Olds, this Black Olds cruiser convertible is the ‘gentleman’s’ ride with great long lines, power and a smooth ride, this has the original 394cid Skyrocket V8 overhead valve engine and has a new Edelbrock carburetor for ease of use today, it also has the original carb and intake, it appears just cosmetically cleaned through the years as it is believed mostly original with no signs of any damage, original 41,425 miles, with automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes, this was the largest Oldsmobile (very upscale car of the era) that was made in 1962 and designed as the ultimate cruiser, the recent cosmetic restoration with mostly original paint presents very well for driven show condition, the very nice black paint has had recent professional buffing to bring out the nice luster, this rare ‘cruiser’ is presented with the hard to get and original stainless trim and all the proper pieces around the car, nice black power top, the pretty black and silver seats add to the whole package to yield a quality owner’s appeal, fresh tune and road test, the full braking rebuild of correct parts was just completed in order to have this beauty ready for Fall 2012 cruising, all the lights and braking system lights were checked, has proper VIN 628A04392 show this ‘98’ was built in Doraville (Atlanta) Georgia and it still here, rare original fluted spinner hubcaps and trim pieces especially the rear valence that are hard to get, car presents well with patina befitting a very original quality convertible that is now 50 years old, full tune and road test just completed, taken to an Atlanta Cruise night on a hot late August (SEE PHOTOS) evening, got lots of attention at show as this is such a unique period piece, was enjoyed for almost five years by a serious Atlanta collector before the final work at Fraser Dante for Fall 2012, HISTORY: the upscale brand of Oldsmobile made this in 1962 as its best classy large smooth convertible driver, has the valuable original Owner’s Manual and power top operating manual (SEE LINK), original Owner’s Protect-O-plate (SEE LINK) that add to the fine history, the Protecto-plate shows this was sold new in Dunedin, Florida to a Gertrude Morton of Endwell, New York and she kept the car for limited use at her Florida second home, then this was returned to Atlanta where it has now been for many years, this has the proper spinner hubcaps that are very rare, hard to fine and have real value along with authenticity, note that the recent cosmetic restoration with full check of braking system, featuring the unmolested original 394cid engine that is presented in simple, well-kept condition from new, this car is believed mostly original, has a redone radiator, hoses, rebuilt 3-speed HydraMatic transmission works great with its period design will apply, new generator, starter, all four GM safety belts, full power includes the power steering and windows and power 6-way seat, full leather two-tone black/gray interior is in fine condition that looks great with lighter insets and darker trim, has the WonderBar radio that plays at AM at present, working power antenna, working clock, has the original signal seeking light ‘eye’ on dash, cannot confirm it works, dual ashtrays in front, two ashtrays with lighters in rear, when lights are on, the panel above the glove box is backlit and very unique, high beam sensor, new black power top with new pads, gray boot, the new power brakes and brake cylinders and power booster along with the solid front end and springs, very solid underchassis, just professionally buffed (SEE LINK), all make this a nice cruiser to drive, perfect for a Fall day, ENGINE: hard to find today is the original 394cid with engine with 4v carb that is in fine condition, except for new Edelbrock 4V carburetor to make this work better in 2012, it also comes also with the original Rochester 4v carburetor and air cleaner available as part of the package, this demands the use of premium fuel for best running, rated at 330 horses with massive torque of 440 lbs for the "Skyrocket" V8 standard on the Ninety-Eight that were the specs from GM, really a wonderful piece of solid engineering, this hydraulic lifter engine is smooth and strong, has a full tune just completed to make this perform well, the original carburetor and air cleaner are available for value (SEE LINK) and showing as everything else is all stock under the hood, this is excepting for the new Edelbrock carburetor and cleaner that are installed for ease of operation and maintenance, the full tune includes the new generator, starter, all belts and hoses replaced to make this a good driving cruiser, rebuilt 3-speed HydraMatic transmission that is the slim line of the period, has a nice dual exhaust system with nice sound, INTERIOR: working power steering and power windows, power 6-way seat, very proper pretty finished full leather two-tone black/gray interior with gray insets and black trim, the interior is in very, very nice and original factory condition, has the WonderBar radio with power antenna, working clock, dual ashtrays in front with one lighter, two ashtrays both with lighters in rear, when lights are on, the panel above the glove box is backlit and very unique, has a high beam sensor on the dash that detects oncoming cars and dims the high beams depending on the setting of the sensitivity sensor, unknown if this is currently working, also has speed warning system that one could set to desired speed, then a warning signal sounds when that speed is reached, not known if this is working at present, new black power top with new pads, presented with the factory gray top boot that matches the seat insets, SUSPENSION/BRAKES: has power brakes with new brake cylinders and power brake booster, drums and shoes, the new full system brakes are checked and rebuilt in the Fraser Dante shop by top professional technicians with proper parts to make for safe driving in Fall 2012, (SEE LINK), this took great expertise to accomplish to drive safely, has a new front end setup through the years with springs, solid underchassis, solid trunk with spare and jack, the original hubcaps that are hard to get set off this convertible, tires are 215/R14 Federal radial whitewalls, SUMMARY: This 1962 Olds ‘98’ is a really nice cruiser both with the top up or down, has a gray factory boot, has the full power with 1962 Oldsmobile ‘98’ Convertible in wonderful original condition that is highly maintained with great cosmetic and recent mechanical care, very original and unmolested condition, full power everywhere as befitting the top of the line Olds, this Black Olds cruiser convertible is the ‘gentleman’s’ ride with great long lines, power and a smooth ride, this has the original 394cid Skyrocket V8 overhead valve engine and has a new Edelbrock carburetor for ease of use today, it also has the original carb and intake, it appears just cosmetically cleaned through the years as it is believed mostly original with no signs of any damage, original 41,425 miles, with automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes, this was the largest Oldsmobile (very upscale car of the era) that was made in 1962 and designed as the ultimate cruiser, the recent cosmetic restoration with mostly original paint presents very well for driven show condition, the very nice black paint has had recent professional buffing to bring out the nice luster, this rare ‘cruiser’ is presented with the hard to get and original stainless trim and all the proper pieces around the car, nice black power top, the pretty black and silver seats add to the whole package to yield a quality owner’s appeal, fresh tune and road test, the full braking rebuild of correct parts was just completed in order to have this beauty ready for Fall 2012 cruising, all the lights and braking system lights were checked, has proper VIN 628A04392 show this ‘98’ was built in Doraville (Atlanta) Georgia and it still here, rare original fluted spinner hubcaps and trim pieces especially the rear valence that are hard to get, car presents well with patina befitting a very original quality convertible that is now 50 years old, full tune and road test just completed, taken to an Atlanta Cruise night on a hot late August (SEE PHOTOS) evening, got lots of attention at show as this is such a unique period piece, was enjoyed for almost five years by a serious Atlanta collector before the final work at Fraser Dante for Fall 2012,
HISTORY: the upscale brand of Oldsmobile made this in 1962 as its best classy large smooth convertible driver, has the valuable original Owner’s Manual and power top operating manual (SEE LINK), original Owner’s Protect-O-plate (SEE LINK) that add to the fine history, the Protecto-plate shows this was sold new in Dunedin, Florida to a Gertrude Morton of Endwell, New York and she kept the car for limited use at her Florida second home, then this was returned to Atlanta where it has now been for many years, this has the proper spinner hubcaps that are very rare, hard to fine and have real value along with authenticity, note that the recent cosmetic restoration with full check of braking system,
featuring the unmolested original 394cid engine that is presented in simple, well-kept condition from new, this car is believed mostly original, has a redone radiator, hoses, rebuilt 3-speed HydraMatic transmission works great with its period design will apply, new generator, starter, all four GM safety belts, full power includes the power steering and windows and power 6-way seat, full leather two-tone black/gray interior is in fine condition that looks great with lighter insets and darker trim, has the WonderBar radio that plays at AM at present, working power antenna, working clock, has the original signal seeking light ‘eye’ on dash, cannot confirm it works, dual ashtrays in front, two ashtrays with lighters in rear, when lights are on, the panel above the glove box is backlit and very unique, high beam sensor, new black power top with new pads, gray boot, the new power brakes and brake cylinders and power booster along with the solid front end and springs, very solid underchassis, just professionally buffed (SEE LINK), all make this a nice cruiser to drive, perfect for a Fall day,
ENGINE: hard to find today is the original 394cid with engine with 4v carb that is in fine condition, except for new Edelbrock 4V carburetor to make this work better in 2012, it also comes also with the original Rochester 4v carburetor and air cleaner available as part of the package, this demands the use of premium fuel for best running, rated at 330 horses with massive torque of 440 lbs for the "Skyrocket" V8 standard on the Ninety-Eight that were the specs from GM, really a wonderful piece of solid engineering, this hydraulic lifter engine is smooth and strong, has a full tune just completed to make this perform well, the original carburetor and air cleaner are available for value (SEE LINK) and showing as everything else is all stock under the hood, this is excepting for the new Edelbrock carburetor and cleaner that are installed for ease of operation and maintenance, the full tune includes the new generator, starter, all belts and hoses replaced to make this a good driving cruiser, rebuilt 3-speed HydraMatic transmission that is the slim line of the period, has a nice dual exhaust system with nice sound,
INTERIOR: working power steering and power windows, power 6-way seat, very proper pretty finished full leather two-tone black/gray interior with gray insets and black trim, the interior is in very, very nice and original factory condition, has the WonderBar radio with power antenna, working clock, dual ashtrays in front with one lighter, two ashtrays both with lighters in rear, when lights are on, the panel above the glove box is backlit and very unique, has a high beam sensor on the dash that detects oncoming cars and dims the high beams depending on the setting of the sensitivity sensor, unknown if this is currently working, also has speed warning system that one could set to desired speed, then a warning signal sounds when that speed is reached, not known if this is working at present, new black power top with new pads, presented with the factory gray top boot that matches the seat insets,
SUSPENSION/BRAKES: has power brakes with new brake cylinders and power brake booster, drums and shoes, the new full system brakes are checked and rebuilt in the Fraser Dante shop by top professional technicians with proper parts to make for safe driving in Fall 2012, (SEE LINK), this took great expertise to accomplish to drive safely, has a new front end setup through the years with springs, solid underchassis, solid trunk with spare and jack, the original hubcaps that are hard to get set off this convertible, tires are 215/R14 Federal radial whitewalls,
