Vehicle Detail

This is an original, rare, unmolested, rust free California black plate car! Please read the entire ad and click on the link below to see over 100 detailed pictures of this wagon. The ad is a bit lengthy, but worth the read. Then if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them! I will provide my telephone number if you want to speak to me in person. EXTERIOR Original paint (Pale Jade - code FF1) with a white top. Zero rust anywhere ...just some very light surface rust in some spots. Most of the stainless trim has some dings that can easily be worked out by a good stainless guy. The worst spots are the right front fender trim and the right rear wheel well molding. The pictures will show all of this. Rear bumper is straight as an arrow. No rust. No dents. Front bumper is pushed up slightly, but not bent or dented. Both bumpers still shine, but need rechromed. Front lower valence is pushed up, but not creased or dented. Glass is all good. Tailgate glass is missing, but I have a lead on a replacement. Right now it has some custom cut 3/16" Lexan (plexiglass) installed. Looks like the real thing. The electric window motor is good and functional. Grille is awesome. A few small dings on one of the headlight bezels. Original wheel covers are very nice with a few dings and scratches ...nothing to be ashamed of, for sure. Paint is weak, but can pass with nice patina! Outside mirrors are the only thing that aren't original. Nice shape though. No rust in quarters, rockers or floor pans, so no sheet metal to replace anywhere. Just some dings here and there. The original black plates need to be restored, but they will go with the car. INTERIOR Bone stock original except for front seat bottom, which looks to have been replaced many years ago. All vinyl on the seats are excellent, but the cloth inserts are showing some age. Not really dry rotted though ...just dirty. I'm afraid to try to clean them. I have samples and a price sheet of the original material from SMS. No seat belts ...didn't come with 'em. Carpet was toast, so I ripped it out so you can see that the floor pans are in great shape ...just surface rust. No holes or 'soft' spots. POR 15 (or similar sealer) should easily take care of it. See pictures. Door panels are excellent. Door handles and window cranks look like new. Arm pads are excellent ...no cracks or holes. See pictures. Hardboard headliner panels are in excellent shape. Radio works, looks great and the speaker still sounds good. The speaker grille is still in great shape. The glove box looks like new on the inside, and has the original owner's manual inside. The green dash pad above the glove box has a couple of cracks, but is in great shape for being 50 years old. The dash pad over the instrument cluster looks to have been redone at some time, and is black. I would imagine it was originally green, like the rest of the interior. None of the instrument guages are working. I hope to have that resolved by the end of the auction. The sun visors do not have any padding on them, and will need to be recovered. The visor arms and wood panels are in excellent shape. The steering wheel has a few small cracks, and has some sun damage. The horn ring and horn button are excellent. When all the seats are folded down, the hard rubber mats that make up the 'floor' are all broken and cracked. Need replaced. The one on the tailgate is gone. ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION The engine is the original 318 poly, with 2 barrel carb. Runs smooth and no knocks, rattles or funny noises. Carb could use a rebuild kit ...runs rich. Tranny is pushbutton Torquefite. The transmission has a pretty bad fluid leak (front seal, I think), but runs, drives and shifts fine. The shift cables need some adjustment. Engine and engine compartment is dirty and greasy, along with the bottom side. Needs to be cleaned up. The odometer shows 38,000 miles, which I'm guessing is not correct. It's hard to believe that it has 138,000, considering the shape everything is in, so I'm selling it as "mileage unknown". Car can be driven, but is not what I would consider to be roadworthy. It needs some attention, so be prepared to come with a trailer, rollback or transporter. SUMMARY Overall, this would be a pretty easy restoration because no floor pans or sheet metal needs to be replaced. Windlace, weatherstripping, window gaskets, carpet etc. is all available as reproduction stuff. Finding a Fury wagon in this condition is very rare because there were only 2,411 nine-passenger ones made. This one came out of the Los Angeles plant, and stayed in the dry California climate it's entire life. It's not a show car by any stretch of the imagination, but you'll be hard pressed to find one as 'honest' as this one. What you see is what you get ...nothing covered up, bondo filled or painted over to worry about. With a little mechanical work, it can be a great driver as is. You can spend as little or as much as you want to get this wagon to whatever level you want to make it. I don't think they had 'build' sheets in '62, but I did find a punchcard under the rear seat that may have the same type of information. It goes with the car anyway. I'll research that a bit more. I know that all Fury wagons were V-8's. LEGAL STUFF If you are seriously interested in the car, please ask questions and then bid. If you have to ask your wife or your girlfriend or your mommy if you can bid or buy it, please go on to the next ad. I'm not a dealer ...just a Mopar guy who already has too many station wagon projects to work on as it is. Car is sold "as is - where is", and no warranties are expressed or implied. I have never dealt with a vehicle transportation company, so I do not know anyone who can do that. That is totally up to you. I can keep the car here for at least 30 days, so that should give you plenty of time to make arrangements for pickup. I do require an IMMEDIATE $500 deposit via PayPal, and the balance is due in cash when the car is picked up. DO NOT SEND THE BALANCE TO PAYPAL! If you transfer the funds from your bank account to mine, I will add the small bank transfer fee to the final balance. Please click HERE for over 100 pictures of the car!!
