Curb-side Delivery at Seller's VALENCIA, CA. 91355 location & FREE prep for transport. • This is a 100% 75 year old used vintage "commercial car" needing complete restoration. This 1937 Dodge Humpback Panel Truck was shipped on June 23, 1937 from Dodge's Detroit plant with the Carryall conversion to serve as a School Bus in the Santa Rosa School District #8 (a rural desert area). It remained as property of the school district until 1997. Below are the specific details about this rare vehicle (only 3,606 Dodge Panel Trucks were made between 1936 to 1938 according to one popular collector's website) . . . and a very, very small number of those had the factory Carryall / Suburban conversion. Vehicle Details: • 1937 Dodge Series MC half-ton Humpback Panel Truck. (116" wheelbase - same footprint & height as a 2000 Chrysler Town & Country Minivan). • Factory 1937 OEM rear side-windows Carryall / School Bus conversion (a VERY rare feature in 1937 before std. Carryall production began in 1939 - also called the Suburban). • Copy of the original 1937 Build Record from Chrysler Historical (this is the work order pasted to the windshield when this truck rolled down the assembly line in 1937 - shows original matching serial #'s, paint codes, etc.). • Clear CA Title (Pink Slip) in Seller's Name: ~ Titled to the original Dodge Bros. VIN # ~ Titled as "1937 Dodge Panel Truck" ~ CA License & Reg. paid thru March 2013 ~ CA annual registration fee = $137 ~ 1937 = NO smog ever needed, forever! This means you can run a high-performance bad-ass engine in this & be street legal in CA! • Original paint scheme & original lettering (e.g. "SCHOOL BUS" & "DIST NO. 8" along sides). Truck was dressed for filming as prop in a recent Hollywood movie (the "re-Birthday Movie"). • STRAIGHT Body as shown in photos showing view sighted down each L&R side. NO bondo anywhere. ALL metal solid for a 75 year old truck with some rust thru in side qtr. panels as shown in pics. Rock-solid pair of correct RiteWay truck headlight cans (re: not BiRay cans for cars) • OEM Carryall side windows = 16"H x 23¼"W are located in the recessed rear advertising panels. • 116" wheelbase, inside cargo floor is 89" long & 56¼" wide (48" between wheel wells); inside cargo area is 50?" high. Per 1937 Dodge advertising: "Designed especially for business men who want extra-big loading room, with smart looks & economy." • Misc.: #13 Billiard Ball gear shift knob, 18" long aluminum step plates on L&R running boards, after-market front grill & shroud, 4 Bridgestone Dueler Tires, stainless steel rear tube bumper, and a galvanized steel insert braised in rear roof opening (was originally a canvas-like leatherette top). • Body Code: K-4-3-LR 7060. Auction includes the original Body Code Tag & OEM Dodge Bros. VIN Tag. • Engine Block: Serial # "T-38 31156" (correct for 1937 Panel Truck) is the the 218ci "long" commercial engine block: 25½" head, 3?" bore, 6-cyl, 78 HP. See photo, block has old repair on top left side. MoPar engine block is part number 666029-4. • Buyer will likely drop in a built Hemi . . . but if stock is desired, engine block needs complete rebuilding of internal & external related parts, electrical systems, fueling system, cooling, etc. • 4.7 Ratio Rear End (per Build Record for this truck), drive shaft, 3-speed manual transmission, I-beam stock front axle, 4 leaf springs; needs clutch / bell housing, gas tank & other parts for restoration (see 3 photos of undercarriage). We recommend windshieldframes(dot)com for parts too. • 5 vintage MoPar stock 16" steel rims & 4 road worthy tires hold air, no problem.
