Vehicle Detail
Saab 9-5 sold by original owner. . Car runs, but cannot be driven as it needs at minimum, a new vacuum booster for brake system. Exterior in good condition, minor scratches and dings but no major dents. Interior in very good condition, clean with no rips in seats. Good tread on tires. Auto has nice ride and good option for mechanically inclined to repair or purchase for parts. $100 deposit within 24 hrs. of auction close with balance paid within 7 days. Car sold "as is". Buyer is responsible for pick-up or shipping. Additional notes: Engine and transmission runs fine with no know problems. Has occasional slight "buzzing" noise under hood (don't hear when driving, but may hear it at red light). Mechanic said it was just a noisy fuel injector or aac fan. Functionally was fine so I did not replace and has been fine for over 1 year. Turbo was replaced by Saab 2-3 years ago. SID display (which shows radio, temp, time) has some bad pixels which intermittently display on and off, which has been a common issue for Saab. Display recently display message to "service theft alarm”, but I did not address. All electronics work functionally fine with a partial light bulb out for night time display on speedometer (effects about 40% of speed read). RE; Suspension, no know issues as car gives nice ride and handles good. * gas gauge - on full take gauge occasionally moves from empty to full, but after a gallon or so is used tank reads accurately. As mentioned above, the brakes are of issue. Brake pedal becomes hard after driving. Mechanic believes it is vacuum booster filling with oil, this causing hard brake pedal, rises over a few minutes and eventual pressure on brakes. Car cannot be driven until this is fixed. Vacuum booster was replaced last year, as this is rare to go bad, mechanics assumption is a compounding problem (possibly check value, turbo related or other)? I really do not know root of the issue, but last time replacement cost of new vacuum booster with labor was over $800. After deliberation, since this was second time for issue I decided not to spend dollars to diagnose further but replace the car. As car is 13 years old, I listed a low price and thought someone with mechanical acumen on Saab may be interested. Unless you are mechanic, my guess is you would be spending at least $1000+ in repair to resolve. Please take that into consideration if you bid.
