Vehicle Detail
1959 GMC COE (Cab Forward)Health issues and retirement has caused me to list some of the 9 vehicles I have gathered over the years. I can't work on the cars and trucks myself and I can't afford $80 an hour to have them worked on so I am beginning to sell down to a reasonable number. The first listing is my 1959 GMC COE, others to follow. I personally can't stand bidding against a reserve, I make the opening bid the least I will take for the truck and the high bidder will own it.This is an exceptional truck for 53 years old. This truck has been in service continually until October, 2010. It was a certified seed hauler; therefore it was only used 3 months out of the year and never saw a winter outside. Mechanically the truck is exceptional. In 2005 the engine and clutch system was rebuilt professionally. The speedometer has not worked for years but based up the load and weight records the old family friend I bought two trucks from estimated there to be approximately 12,000 miles on the engine and clutch, I have no accurate way to tell the actual miles on the truck. The truck starts the first time every time. The lift for the bed is a PTO unit which is totally functional, the lift weight is 8,000 pounds. The brakes and drive train components operate as they should. I would drive the truck most anywhere with my only concern being that the truck doesn't have power steering and the front end dose need work. It takes a man to steer it. My plan for the truck was to build a roll back but life put a stop to that. All of the lights work except the left side rear tail light is broken. I purchased a new light for it but have not installed it. The gas and speedometer gauges do not work. The parking brake could use some adjustment but it works as it is now. The windshield, driver's wing window and the passengers door window are all cracked. The upholstery in general is very good, the seat is without tears but show slight sun damage. The truck was repainted gold metal flake green in 2006. From 15 feet it looks SUPER up close the body work was less than perfect; the truck was never wrecked or had major body damage, it is a good quality driver paint job. There is no bondo in the truck and the only rust is surface rust in the steps and around the air vents. The body is rust free and has never had body rust because it was only use in the summer and never saw a winter driving. You can see by the frame that rust is not an issue. There is a small dent and paint damage on the driver's door. I included a close up picture of the damage to the door; it is minor. The truck has excellent west coast mirrors. There are 3 excellent tires and 2 that should be upgraded. The tires have been no problem but 2 should be replaced if you are going to haul any big load. The GMC COE is rather rare. Where ever I have taken the truck it gets lots of thumbs up and there are always questions. The number of GMCs are far fewer than the Chevy COEs. As you go through the pictures you will quickly see why I purchased this truck for myself. I looked years for a truck this nice that would not take a small fortune to bring back to its original glory. I originally transported the truck on a 7 foot by 19 foot car trailer. To move it I took the outside dual wheel off the rear end. All costs and arrangement for transportantion is the resposibility of the buyer. I will be available to assist with pick up. The truck is sold as is where is and with no warrantee as to it use or status.I am sure if you buy this truck, you will be as pleased as I have been with it. Several have asked; I can store the Truck for up to 3 months at no charge if the truck is paid for in full and you do not mind it being stored outside. The truck is titled, insured and licensed in my name. There is no problem with the title. Thank you for looking!
