Vehicle Detail
1979 Ford F350 4 X 4 rat rod style This is actually a rare configuration truck. Only a limited amount of vehicles ever came with the Dana 60 high pinion front axle with the extra strong king pin design, and only in the late 70's. 1973 Trucks (what this truck resembles) never had it available. The High Pinion Dana 60 only came in 1978-79 F-250's with the Sno-fighter option, and as standard equipment in the 1978-79 F-350. Changed core support and grille so it looks like a 1973. Bed is from an earlier model as well. The cab and doors were changed and the truck is titled as a 1979 F150 as required by law. The original F-350 body was in too bad a condition to repair. The F-350 frame and running gear all are original F-350. Over the past few years I have done nearly an entire mechanical restoration and have hardly used it except for hauling things around now and then. I took this down to the bare frame and built it back up with mostly new parts. My intentions were to keep this truck for many years and did not want to have to worry about components failing on a 30+ year old truck. I have confidence to drive this anywhere because it is as reliable as it was in 1980. I know that there may be other trucks for less, however, go look at them. They are 50% junk and will have you working on them more than driving them. With this truck you could do a paint job and have something worth $8,000-$12,000. Work done includes, but not limited to: All new brakes including the entire hydraulic system and all mechanical parts, rebuilt the front and rear axles with all new seals and bearings, rebuilt the transmission and transfer case with all new seals and bearings, all new shocks and suspension bushings, all new steering linkage, power steering pump, rebuilt Steering box, new steering linkage and kingpins, new tires and wheels, new studs and lug nuts, new locking hubs, new 3" body lift kit ( the 6" suspension lift was with the truck when I bought it) and body bushings, new clutch, water pump, engine gaskets, freeze plugs, used rebuilt engine, borgeson steering shaft, all new belt and hoses, new alternator, ignition control unit, fans, relays and wiring, new speedometer cable, windshield, recovered seat, new water pump, oil pump, camshaft, intake manifold, carburetor, K&N air filter, fuel pump, relays, custom built bumpers, new 4 core radiator (truck never gets hotter than 180 deg.), new grille, tail lights, side marker lights, rust free tail gate, new 38 gallon fuel tank, new bed liner. And more.... This is a truck that will go in the mud and still cruises down the highway at 70 mph with no problem. Top speed seems to be about 100 mph, hard to tell with the 85 mph speedometer, but with these gears that seems to be the top. I do have an earlier cluster with a 100 mph that goes with the truck. It has actually never been in the mud or beaten up off road. Dana 60 High Pinion front with 4.10 gears Dana 60 SRW rear, 4.10 Super Swamper Radial TSL 38 x 15.50 with about 2k or less mileage. Wheels were new at that time as well. Custom bumpers Fiberglass cowl induction hood. Aluminum tool box Full bed liner (new in 2009) 6" suspension, 3" body lift (will clear 44's) Re-covered (2009) bucket, bench seat. Transfer case, transmission, brakes, axles all rebuilt with new bearings, etc. in 2009 (about 3k on the truck since then) Edelbrock intake, crane cam, Holley 750, long tube headers, flow master dual exhaust. 4 core radiator with dual electric fans. GM style 130 amp single wire alternator. 38 gallon fuel tank. It does have some rust in the usual places. I have an extra cab that can go with the truck that is 98% rust free. I have a couple of doors and a complete extra a/c dash that can go with it to. I have bushwhacker fender flares not installed yet as well. (I was going to install the flares and then run 44" or 49" tires. I may be interested in interesting trades, it would have to be an American V8 street car or truck and you would have to bring it to Miami, FL in order to do the deal. The Warn 8274-50 winch is NOT INCLUDED at this price. If you want the winch there will be an extra charge.
