Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass "S" Type 2DR Hardtop. Please see description for details and pictures that enhance description. 2 years ago, the car was restored with additional details to the interior finish. Description: Interior: Leather seats in front and back were re-upholstered, a new headliner was installed and new carpet was laid. The car has been garage kept since the refurbishing. Exterior: Along with interior refurbishing, the outside of the car was painted like original with the addition of a new vinyl top. Car has no dents and there is no chipped paint. Engine / Transmission: The engine is an olds 455 V-8 and the transmission is a 400 Turbo with Shift Kit. Engine has no oil leaks and very clean. Has flowmasters exhaust and sounds very deep. I had people rolling down their windows and trying to listen the engine. Original gear shift is in the floor. General Info: The car body is all original and has not been in an accident. It has AC but it was unhooked during engine rebuilt. I was going to hook it up but I had my first baby and couldn’t do it. It can be hooked back up easily. The suspension is in perfect condition re-done by all new parts. There are only 55,900 miles on the odometer. The last tune-up and brakes were done in July/2012. Car has a new electronic ignition and starter and starts right up on the first try. The original 8 track still works. There is also a pioneer installed on the dash. I was thinking about replacing the unit with one of those flip screen built in navigation units but I had my second baby while making plans. Driver seat is an automatic from the factory. It needs to be hooked up. I am not a mechanic and don’t know how to do it. The motor is working but the cable needs to be plugged in to the appropriate blank fuse. I may help you with this hook up. Car has Cooper Cobra tires all around with less than 200 miles of wear. All glass in good condition and windows work good also. All lights work all the way around the car, including the horn. Tags are current and paid through. This is a turn key car. I am buying a house and will use the money as down payment. I never had plans about selling this car and when I did the refurbishing all required money was spent. It’s a very strong car and a real head turner. I am taking a loss here but hopefully will make it up with the new house I am buying. Please no joy rides, no trades, requests to help selling my car, overseas shipping requests. If the ad is up car is still available for purchase. Car has clean title and I have the pink slip in hand. If you have any questions or would like to see the car in person please call 415-297-8007 and ask for John. Thank you.On Aug-07-12 at 01:45:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Back in 70's they used to issue 13 digit VINs. This is a clean title car and can be checked through carfax. ThanksOn Aug-07-12 at 12:46:43 PDT, seller added the following information: The engine is not original to the car. Its a Buick 455. ThanksOn Aug-07-12 at 21:25:39 PDT, seller added the following information: I am receiving lots of phone calls and text messages regarding to the condition of the car. I encourage all bidders to inspect the car before the auction ends. I did provide useful information and i really don't know what else you want to know. If you ask specific question i will be more than happy to answer. I am providing couple more pictures of the engine compartment and under carriage. When the engine was rebuilt all belts and hoses were replaced with new ones. You can still see the white letters on the belts and hoses. There are absolutely no leaks anywhere in the engine compartment. Also no leaks or loose gaskets with the transmission housing. This car has factory disc brakes. I can provide storage for up to a month once the car is paid in full. I will not charge extra for storage. the car will be kept in a ventilated, secured storage as i keep most of my toys there. I require $500 non refundable deposit within 24 hours once the auction ends. For out of state buyers: Shipping will be buyers responsibility. I will make myself available while loading the car. Thank you. On Aug-09-12 at 00:34:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Dear Bidders; Thank you very much for your interest. I receive lots of phone calls and text messages regarding to the condition of the car. This is actually a tricky question. When I start doing the refurbishing I only replaced the parts that might cause a problem in the future such as pressure side steering hose. It was leaking because the plastic was cracked and I replaced it. During refurbishing I wanted to keep the unique original parts on the car such as the 8 track. Another example I did not replace is the shifter as it was original from the factory. I could have change it with a fancy looking one but like I said I wanted to keep the originality plus it works and it is in good condition as you can see in the pictures. All replaced parts are purchased from Year One Auto parts. you can check their website www.yearone.com . They specialize in muscle cars. I don't have all the invoices and receipts by the way. A little of a history about the car… It was purchased brand new from a dealer in Southern California. The guy who bought the vehicle enjoyed driving it for a couple of years till he was diagnosed with lung cancer. His wife forced him to move to Northern California (Dixon) near their son and daughter to spend some quality time as a family. Couple months after spending time with the family his health condition got worse and he couldn’t keep up with the car. After he passed away his son took possession and made plans to restore the car back to its original condition but the car end up spending majority of its life in the farm sleeping right next to the horse barn. The son actually parked the car next to the horse barn because he was feeding the horses everyday and was walking around the car whenever he is done with his horses. When my father purchased the car there were some rust holes on the body and interior was a perfect shelter for spiders. I was in college when we purchased the car and I always had plans about restoring it with my father but it didn’t happen. My father was busy with work and he chose to spend his weekends with "us" instead of repairing the car. I tried to fix the car myself but I was a college student with no money and then I got married. Even though I start fixing it I couldn’t finish all the work. I wasn’t planning on selling the car until I come up with this great house deal and start selling all my toys to get some extra money so that I can use it as a down payment. So here is the story and here is the car. When you purchase this car you may want to replace the center stone shield as it has a crack in the middle and both corners due to its age. Here is the part I found here on ebay.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-1972-CUTLASS-442-GRILLE-CENTER-STONE-SHIELD-NEW-/350409724962?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item51960c1422&vxp=mtr#ht_1639wt_905 I didn’t replace it because I had no time especially after my second baby. If you choose to replace this part you can still use the existing grilles as they are in good condition. Chrome around the doors and back window is in good shape and no need to replace as you can see from the pictures. Still shinny. Front and rear bumpers will need some polishing for sure. They are actually in good condition, still shiny and yes they are original meaning 40 years old. I already had couple of messages from a guy from Afghanistan indicating he is a soldier and would like to buy the car and etc. I respect our army and our soldiers but this guy is driving me nuts. You don’t need to make me smile. Keep your story to yourself. There is "no reserve" for this auction. Highest bidder will own the car. This auction is subject to prior sale and I may end the auction for any reason or for an acceptable offer prior to auction ending. Bid it to win it. Please understand that this is a binding contract and only bid if you are ready to complete the sale, all sales are final. My carfax search showed no issues with miles, no rollbacks or what so ever. $500 non refundable down payment due within 24 hrs of the sale and the balance due within 5 calendar days (not business days). Buyer must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction to make payment and pick up arrangements. Buyer is responsible for transport, taxes, and fees.
