Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a Classic 1972 Superior Pontiac Consort Hearse / Ambulance Combination Car. This is a very unique and desirable Pontiac. According to the Superior book, They only made a very small amount of Consort Combos in 1972. A Consort is a short wheelbase. Usually they stretched the wheelbase for hearses and ambulances. A consort does not have the dividing partition between the driver and rear compartment. These are hard to find. Ive never seen another, and Ive seen many, many hearses and ambulances. The great thing abut these consorts is that they can fit in your average garage. Another great thing if you are into things that go fast is these consorts have less metal, less weight and can go faster than your average hearse or ambulance can. When I saw this car, I knew I had to have it. With its mighty 455 engine and awesome green interior, how could it not have been love at first sight. This Pontiac has a working Federal Beacon light on top and a working PA & siren mounted under the dash. The interior is a great shade of green. Its stunning and unusual. The front seat as well as the jump seat in back (that folds down completely into the floor) are in great condition. The shade of green color is really nice and looks great in this car. The curtains are a beige color. They have some wear and look ok but they arent my favorite color. I would love to see some crisp white brocade curtains instead. All of the glass, including the windshield are in good shape with no breaks or cracks. The dash looks wonderful. The door panels are all in very nice shape, but the drivers door panel has some of the silver paint at the bottom flaked off. Im sure that could be touched up easily, but I did want to mention it. It was my intention to clean this Pontiac up a little and then have it repainted but I have since gotten into many other projects and this one keeps getting put on the backburner. I recently bought back the hearse of my dreams, the very first hearse that I completely restored, and I honestly feel like my life with hearses is complete. Ever since I sold it, Ive been searching for something that I would love more or just as much. Nothing came close. When the opportunity came for me to buy it back, I did. I dont feel the need to go through every other hearse in the world on my quest to find the "perfect hearse" to replace the one that I just bought back. I am absolutely in love with the car that I just bought back and I am content. Anyway, this Pontiac would make a super simple restoration project. All it really needs is a light sanding and quick coat of paint. The rust on this car is only light surface rust and very easily sanded. There is only one small rust hole in front of the passenger side rear wheel that would need to be repaired. I already went through the brakes, put in a new master cylinder and bled out the system. The car runs and drives wonderful. It will need a new exhaust pipe or the one on there welded. The paint on the roof is cracking off, but I see alot of people redoing their roof with truck bed liner, which gives it that original crinkle paint look. We did the bed liner crinkle roof on our 4x4 suburban hearse and it looks fabulous. I think this car would look awesome with a black top. I hate to see this car go, because I really do like it, and I know just how hard to find they are. If I had proper storage for it, I dont think I would even consider selling it. If anyone knows of reasonably priced storage in the Chicago area or south suburbs, I definitely would appreciate hearing about it, as I have several cars that need to be stored. This Consort came out of North Carolina. I do have names and contact info for a couple of previous owners and can gather that info and pass it on at the end of auction to the winning bidder if they desire. I might trade if the right opportunity were presented to me. A few things I would be interested in are a PT cruiser w low miles and a moonroof, a PT Cruiser Convertible, an HHR Panel, Sport Trac 4x4, a paint job for other hearses that I own. what do you have that I might want? No junk please! I expect a $500 deposit via paypal within 24 hours of auction end. Balance to be paid by bank wire no later than 72 hours after auction end. Shipping is the buyers responsibility.
