This 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is a body off restore. It was restored in 2010. This is a near perfect example that can still get regular use. This FJ40 has the aluminum tub upgrade and aluminum steps so you don't have to deal with the typical future rust issues that these great trucks are prone to have. We like the CCOT-style restorations, which often include stock steel wheels with oversized BFG’s, mild lift kits, and very stock drivetrains and aesthetics. It makes for a great look, so we modeled this restore as such. These later production FJ’s are great because they include vent windows, disk brakes, and 4 speed trans. This mustard color is a stock hue, and on a truck this clean it actually looks pretty great.The area under the rear doors almost always rusts out on these trucks, so to find one with it properly restored in metal (and not just hidden under diamond-plate) is worth the higher price of admission. The interior looks great, with the stock wheels and seats. The rubber floor mat means the truck can be easily hosed out after a run on the trail. This FJ40 drives down the road solid and stays on line. Off road all drive train shifts and locks as it should. This is a 9 out of 10 restore as shown by the photos. The front doors both have a section in the bottom rear where they had a piece of metal welded in place of using bond-o. I didn't want any filler on the doors or body so a welded metal process was used to make sure it stayed solid (see pics). The paint and rust prevention given to this truck exceeds factory specs, and will ensure this vehicle remains rust free for many years to come. It has a two part epoxy primer with a two stage epoxy top coat to provide a long lasting durable protection. This was chosen as the best product for the aluminum tub as well as the other metal body parts. The hard top and seals are in great shape with little wind noise to the inside.
