Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a very nice driver quality 1970 Ford F-100 4x4 with lots of new parts and upgrades. It is a 40 year old truck and has a few drips, small dings, and minor scratches as you would expect from something of its age. It has lots of Ranger appointments woodgrain on the interior etc. but originally a Custom model truck. I purchased it from a guy who had painted it, and done a lot of the frontend work on it and upgraded the transmission and transfer case. I have done most everything else listed in the description myself since owning it for the last couple of years all the while driving and enjoying it. Between the two of us this has become a very nice old truck. I now have my eye on another project and do not have enough room to keep everything so it is time for someone else to enjoy this truck. Please read through and feel free to reach out to me with any questions. I would be happy respond via email or phone between 8AM-9PM Central Time. My number is 314-457-9808. If you call and I do no answer please leave a message. I will return you call as soon as can. The front end has been upgraded with a newer Dana 44 Frontend with Warn Premium Hubs, Power Disc Brakes, and has been raised so the truck sits level (2” lift in the front?) looks like Superlift springs as they are red. The drive train includes NP 435 4-speed Manual and NP205 Transfer Case, and a 9 inch Rearend with 3.50 Traction Lok and 31 spline axles all from a 1978 Bronco. Newer front Brakes and new rear brakes (drums, shoes, springs) , tie rod ends, and track bar. The steering has been upgraded to power steering, with a new pump, the steering box seems a little loose by today’s standards but I know power steering felt a lot different back then. It looks like it has had a 4x4x2 steering box upgrade similar to what is done on early Broncos but I cannot confirm as I did not install it? It has a 3G Alternator from a later model Ford. AM/FM CD player, currently the antenna wire is loose so radio reception is so-so, but plays CDs clearly. The re-upolstered seat is in nice shape, new no rips or tears just a little wear. The cushion was repaired with a foam and rod kit from LMC. There is new weather stripping around the doors, windshield and back glass. Aftermarket Guages Volts, Temp, Vacuum, and Oil Pressure and tachometer. Intermitent wipers. Poly Vinyl Rubber Floor with insulation underneath. 2 spoke Steering Wheel from a Falcon in very nice shape. Horn not hooked up. The tires are 15-10.5--31 BF Goodrich All Terrain Tires with good tread on 1993-95 F150 Chrome wheels. I installed a Class 3 Tow hitch, Spray-In Bedliner, Ford Roll Bar- Light Bar from a 1973-79 Truck w/Hella Lights (not hooked up), Sliding Rear window, and under the dash Ford A/C unit, everything is there just never charged. The engine is a 360 FE Engine unknown miles, 4 Barrel Intake and Edelbrock 600 cfm Carb w/electric choke runs really well, can sit for a couple of weeks and starts right up and runs well when driving. Newer Battery, Hoses, and Belts. New tailpipe and Magnaflow muffler occasionally sounds like there might be a leak at the driver’s side do-nut but it is not always there or noticeable. The body is very solid and overall rust free, with a nice driver quality paint job. It has a few dings and small scratches here and there looks very presentable and turns a lot of heads when I drive it. The guy I bought it from painted it himself and went out of his way to find rust free panels, but was not a body man and said the hood was the best he could come up with and knew he would do more harm than good trying to fix what was there. I know everything from the cab forward was painted with Epoxy primer prior to being painted and under coated. The cab supports, floors, and cab corners have been replaced. Inner fenders are really nice no rust issues and the core support is from a 1978 Bronco and shows no deterioration. The weaker spots on the body are the following: 1. The hood has a couple of dents that were painted over when the truck was repainted. A hood hood scoop from a late 60s Mustang was added that breaks up the lower spots and makes them a lot less noticeable and the hood side markers are new and very nice from Dennis Carpenter. 2. The paint is beginning to bubble on the body seam of the bed like many do otherwise no rust or evidence of rust repair on any of the rest of the body other than the areas previously mentioned. See picture. 3. The driver’s door was repainted by the previous owner with the same paint he used on the rest of the truck just never buffed out so it has a little more orange peel than the rest. This could easily be buffed to better match the rest of the truck and is not that noticeable unless you are right up on it. The door also has a few runs and one small dent in that door. See picture. I would say these are the worst things on the body but not horrible by any stretch. Like I said before this is a nice solid driver not a show truck although I have seen worse at shows and would not be ashamed to enter it especially in a daily driver type class. It is a very sound foundation for someone looking for one of these trucks with many upgrades to make it more user friendly for a 40 year old truck.
